Let her watch her shows during the week and don't complain. Then you have that as leverage. If she likes garbage reality shows and you watch them with her she has no room to complain. This works because my GF doesn't like football but I am able to watch all of the good games sat/sun because of this compromise

Exactly, the OP should be happy that his wife doesn't want to watch football. I don't really get why she gets upset over him watching. But that sounds like something he should just ignore.

When we are in the same house, my wife wants to be near each other. I mean sometimes I will go in another room but in general, she just wants to be near. I know that sounds like a clingy person but she is not at all. Very independent person.
When its Saints and LSU and Pelicans she is fine with it. She's not fine with me sitting around all weekend watching 15 games. She wants to do shite. With me.

My wife will almost always watch LSU with me, sometimes the Saints... after that I'm on my own and she can watch whatever she wants in the other room.
Life is too busy to watch ALL the football though. Thursday night, all day Saturday, all day Sunday, Monday night... that's too much for me these days.

My wife didn't care for football before we started dating. Once we started dating, I brought her to some Saints games and pretty soon, she was really excited and into it. It didn't hurt that it was during the 2006 season when Brees and Payton came on to the scene.
Anyway, she was pretty cool after that about my football viewing habits. I would typically watch any game that happened to be on at any time.
After we got married, as a courtesy, I began limiting my viewing to Saints, LSU and significant marquee match-ups.
We hosted a Super Bowl party in 09' and continued to attend the games together in 2010. Had a lot of fun.
In 2011 our son was born and her tolerance for my football watching ended abruptly.
I still watch Saints, LSU and a select few marquee but now I get passive-aggressive anger and comments that make watching way less fun for me.
For the record, I don't ignore my child when football is on. Though you'd think I did by my wife's reaction to anything I say or do when a football game is on TV.

I'm ok with it most times. I called her into the room to watch the replay of LSU's fake field goal though.

I watch two or three of her favorite shows a week(Blacklist, SVU, Undateable) and this allows me to watch football uninterrupted. Find a balance and it will be fine.

My wife isn't a huge sports fan. If LSU or the Saints (sometimes Pelicans, she gets tired of all the games) are on, she's fine, but she doesn't like that I want to watch every game. To solve his problem we typically go to bars with friends and she can talk to her girl friends while I watch football with the guys. It's a win/win.
I really don't understand why you have an issue with her leaving the room if you are watching football and she's not interested. Watching football with someone who isn't interested is the worst. I definitely watch less now that I have a live in lady, but still watch plenty.
I'll willingly give miss out on random games to do something cool with her. Most all of the time that she watches TV shes just playing on her phone anyway, so it doesn't matter much whats on.

Mine only watches LSU games, she doesnt like any other football, she just knows off the top to deal with Football all season. She dreads the season but she knows Im not giving it up.
