My FIL's view on the Troy Middleton thing floored me.
My father-in-law is a retired engineer in his 80's. Went to LSU in the 50's when Middleton was president. Worked on the Saturn V rocket in Huntsville in the 60's. He raised 5 kids who went to LSU and he has taught there as adjunct faculty a couple of times. Very straight arrow guy, never gets riled up.

He was planning on leaving some money to the engineering school when he dies. When he heard about them taking Middleton's name off the library, he said (direct quote), "frick those guys. They're never getting another dime out of me."

I think there are a lot more of him out there.

Did he say why?

Are donations to the LSU Foundation and LSU in general public information? It would be interesting to see how this decision affects "giving" to the university. I am sure they will never admit if there was to be a decrease.

Donating money to a modern large University is a stupid arse thing to do in the first place.

You are simply promoting the current practice of having thousands of absolutely worthless administrators and alternative wacko professors.

At least you got something for the tuition. Relationship over.

LSU will regret this, and other actions.

I’m sure BLM will make up the donation deficit.

Old guys love tradition and resent young militants telling a school the size of LSU what name they can put on their library.

Maybe George Soros will make up the difference.

...and your FIL (and others like him) needs to send a letter to LSU telling him this. They're in the middle of a big campaign to raise $1.5 billion.

Engineers are some of LSU's biggest donors. The university really doesn't want to alienate them to placate SJW's, athletes, and soy boys.

It’s time to put LSU out of business. It’s such a drain on the coffers of the state and the University it Louisiana is the flagship

Slippy,

This is your FIL. It doesn’t take an engineer to calculate that this post did not go at all like you f****** planned.

Disappointed, I remain,

The school probably doesn’t care. They’re more concerned with the football and basketball players who sign big contracts and donate millions vs. smaller donations. If these guys want Middleton’s or anyone else off a building that will happen. If the school is going to offend someone, it will be the small donors not the guys who write big checks.

I'm friends with the Middleton family and they donate a shite ton, they said frick lsu.

My opinion is the same as theirs. They want to cater to a small portion of the population, let that portion fund the school.

I have boycotted donations for last three years while f king was there, I'll just keep boycotting. They apparently don't need my money.
