I hope he communicates that to him. Otherwise they won't know. Even better would be people pulling out of endowments they have already pleged.

There’s a letter with the guy specifically writing that he doesn’t want blacks to come to LSU. Now, that was another time and I don’t fault him for thinking that way in the 50s. But...you have an actual letter from the man stating that and I have no problem not memorializing his name on a building. If you were on the board would you really vote to keep the name knowing this information?

You're damn right there are a lot of them.
I mean it's one thing to go after Robert E Lee, PGT Beauregard, and other major Confederate figures. Middleton was active in the mid to late 1900s. Sure in his early adult like he was a segregationist, but the man knew the error of his ways and was one of the civil rights leaders in the state of Louisiana along the same lines as McKeithan after he got out from under the governor's office. I think some people don't know that.
It's a slippery slope to go down if we are going to start cancelling segregationists who ended up seeing the error of their ways and helping race relations in the end.

The name of a (really outdated) library on LSU's campus is nothing of value to me. In fact, 75% of the posters on here had no idea that the library was named Middelton Libray, and of the 25% that did had no idea who the frick Troy Middelton was.

Yes because I received an education at LSU that informed me that the man played a crucial role in winning World War II. Was an incredible military educator that influenced thousands as a Commandant of Cadets and University President at LSU. And was showing wisdom at the time in not exacerbating a difficult situation, which in the grand scheme of things is a minor part of his life.

Who gives a damn what it's called. They're going to tear it down in the next 20 years anyways. I think that's a reason why LSU was quick to agree that it should be changed. Iirc, Middleton Library and Lockett weren't part of the LSU Master Plan unveiled a few years ago. They're on the docket to be torn down and replaced with green spaces. They're both outdated and easily replaced.

This plan was unveiled a helluva lot longer than a few years ago. They may have altered/updated it a few years ago.
Also....with all the budget cuts LSU has taken over the last decade+....plus the possibility of not having football (possibility pushed by media not me) anyone that thinks the "Master Plan" is anywhere on the next 10-20 year project list is crazy.
I'd bet my arse that after they rename the library you are going to start to hear black special interest groups on campus call for whatever the new Middleton will be to be renovated....and it will be done with the quickness.
