I never had this issue with my FIL, as he is as laid back as it gets and would do anything for you.
My stepfather on the other hand. He thinks he's a badass and when he gets a little miller in him he gets bulletproof. I had my BIL in town for thanksgiving and I took he and my wife to my mother and step-father's house to eat. He started talking shite to my bro in law, who like his dad is laid back and quiet. For my mom's sake, I put up with his nonsense when he messes with me, but I asked him to step outside in this case. He declined and apologized.

We have some cousins coming stay with us for 2 weeks (this is the second time they come and stay with us for an extended period). We've stayed with them for 2 weeks on two separate occasions, too.
