It’s all in show if this is how he handles these situations. He’s delusional if he thinks he had any impact whatsoever on her having sex or not.

I’m not saying parents shouldn’t have very frank discussions with their kids about sex. I’m saying this route is pointless & makes him look like a douchebag.

In reality, he was reacting to a serious potential financial and health risk of his daughter to a kid that is too young to handle the responsibility. He's protecting his own.

Again, not the approach id take, but let's not demonize a guy without all of the facts.

Example: is the kid a drug dealer? Probably not, but we don't know.

Example 2: has the dad been on record with this type of behavior before?

Example 3: was he calm whem he was speaking to the kid or not?

And even if all of those examples (among a litany of other potential examples) pointing in the kid's favor, a law abiding citizen / good man has every right to scare the daylights out of horrible decision making of his daughter and her would be suitors.

Again, I think this will only make things worse for him in the future, and is certainly not the method I'd take myself. But there's a lot at stake for bad decisions made by the daughter.

That was stupid of your brother in law. If his daughter and boyfriend were going to do something, does he really think they would do it in his driveway? A glock? You’re BIL needs counseling.

BIL needs to invest in one of these if he doesn't want his dating 16 yr old to have sex.

I would argue that the initial threat was on his daughter's well being, and therefore makes the man's actions defined as a REaction. But not an illegal one. A reaction meaning it's not aggravated assault since it is more of a defense to a situation, a deterrent. Not necessarily a credible threat.
