I'm not one to talk too much about my personal life on here but for some reason this one is hitting different and just feel like venting a bit. Seriously, frick cancer. I think it's hitting different because she's only in her early 40s, that's far too young. I've been lucky so far in life that most of the deaths to those close to me have been elder relatives that you kinda could see coming so you could prepare for it and understand it. But this one was pretty sudden. She only got her diagnosis, colon cancer, in between Thanksgiving and Christmas last year and it was already pretty far along when they caught it, spread to her liver so the outlook was bleak. Now they say the chemo hasn't worked and it's now in her stomach so they're putting her on hospice, so I think it's going to be any day now when the finality happens.

Her oldest son just graduated HS so at least she got to see that, but her other kids are still in school so she won't be there for those. Kids are not taking it well, I think they were holding out hope that she would recover but after this I think it's finally set in for them. Honestly I too was holding out hope that chemo and the treatments at MDA would pull out a miracle recovery. And then there's my poor uncle. He had a girlfriend he was dating die in a car accident, his best friend commit suicide, and now this. I have no idea how you keep rolling with those kind of punches in life.

She's a God loving woman and a great mother that loved her family and she's being taken from this world too early. It just doesn't seem fair.

I am sorry to hear this. Life has lots of pain and none are immune. I can only tell you that using alcohol or drugs to ease the pain only prolongs it and doesn't help you in the long run. I feel sad for your family. My family had recent diagnoses of colon cancer and a recurrence of squamous cell requiring a massive surgery on my aunt's face and she is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. My father passed away rather suddenly some years ago as well.

Nothing prepares you for things like this.

It could be nothing but bs, but I have found watching near death experience videos and stories helped my grieving process.

Sorry to hear WaterLink

My big sis is coming soon to stay with me for cancer treatments.

We all have a life sentence but it is so much easier to take when it’s a time order that make sense.

Prayers sent. You don’t ever get over these things but enough years go by and you can handle it better.

Prayers for you, your family and hers. I lost my best friend in 2009 at the age of 47 to pancreatic cancer. She was diagnosed in January and gone in June. I’ve experienced a lot in life but that was one of the toughest.

My younger sister died of colon cancer 10 years ago. She too had treatments at MDA and even went into remission although it was short lived. She was preceded in death by her 2 yo boy who died of neuroblastoma. She left a 3 yo at the time. It’s tough. Thoughts and prayers.

Life feels almost unbearable sometimes, especially when it doesn't seem to make sense. I'm so sorry for your precious aunt and her family. Please take care of yourself, and give yourself space to grieve.

Prayers for you and your family. Her kids will need love and support now and after she is gone. These situations are always hard. It’s ok to feel like venting.

Heartbreaking. Hopefully they crank up the morphine to ease her on her way.
