I got the flu shot and didn't get the flu. My anecdote cancels out your anecdote.

Get your fricking flu shot morons!

I got the flu shot, no flu.

Toddler got the flu shot, got Type A 2 weeks ago.

They've closed down schools here for the rest of the week, but daycare is still open. Hoping he doesn't get sick again.

I've had the flu twice. One time I wanted to die. The other time was very manageable and was pretty much just a bad cold.

doesn't erase the fact that its true and your window for the flu is still wide open. 35 years old and never had the flu, should I still get the shot or just keep on keepin on?

Update us tomorrow. I'm going to say that you feel twice as bad as you do now.

My first experience with it has been pretty rough. I didn't realize that I'd completely lose my appetite too. I ate a half a piece of pizza from Saturday night to Wednesday morning. A little of my appetite has returned today but everything I try to eat runs through me in 10 minutes. FML

Found out Sunday I had type A, was miserable that day. Took Xofluza which gave me the squirts, and kind of a buzzing in my head, added on to other symptoms. Back to work tomorrow.

I used to think that I haven't had the flu since I was a kid (30 years ago) but an article posted on this site a few years ago convinced me that I probably had it a few times as an adult. It was just that my immune system handled it fairly well and symptoms felt more like a common cold with slight fever (around 100-101).

Umm... WHAT?

The university of ohio state, among other studies, showed that the flu shot resulted in weakened immune system in subsequent years.

Link to article about the study if interested.

There are many more studies out there showing the negative impact on the immune system from the flu shot.

Do NOT group the flu shot with all other vaccines. It isn't even in the same category as most other useful vaccines.

I caught it on a work flight last week (I think).

You must be tougher than me. Couldn’t make it to the door on Sunday.

Another flu shot study on children

This study showed that children who didn't receive a flu shot produced more antibodies than children that did receive a flu shot.

quote:

Further, when blood samples from 27 healthy, unvaccinated children and 14 children who had received an annual flu shot were compared, the former unvaccinated group naturally built up more antibodies across a wider variety of influenza strains compared to the latter vaccinated group.

Yeah, when I had it in high school I lost 10 pounds in a week because I felt so bad and couldn't eat. I went through 2 or 3 bottles on Nyquil because I just wanted to sleep the whole time.

I too was a fool like you. It is day 1 big guy. I got it at end of 2017 for first time ever. Thought I was golden. The next 4-5 days were fricking hell.

Whatever you do, don't take Tamiflu. That shite had me going out of my mind. Terrible experience.

Me, either. Being told recently that if I don't get one, I'm likely to die.
The good news is, we're all gonna die. Some sooner, some later.

This is an interesting comment. Almost all of the doctors we know in our area have completely stopped writing prescriptions for tamiflu. Half of them strictly warn parents and patients to not use it.

I asked one of the pediatricians we use why they changed their stance over the last 2 years and they claimed it was because studies have shown Tamiflu to be ineffective and the side effects for many children had been much worse than the flu itself. I haven't taken the time to research this topic much but it is out there for those interested.
