I got one years ago when a friend needed to unload an old, working refrigerator. By the time it went out, I couldn't live without it so had to buy a replacement.

It is in the laundry room with nothing in it but beer, water, and (since covid) extra milk. The freezer part is nice for extra space for boudin, leftovers, etc.

I drink beer just two days a week, but I like to have a wide variety ready to go, so I still must have that second fridge.

I bought a 70 year old beer fridge that had died and I refurbished it. Stripped and repainted and replaced the thermostat. It's been running like a tank for 7 years now.

We call ours the "back fridge" but its essentially my beer fridge these days. Used to also hold juice boxes and waters but we are an empty nest now. When the last fridge died I bought a plain white fridge for about $400 and covered it with magnets and decals from trips, sports teams etc...

You need a REAL beer fridge. My grandfather took an old refrigerator that still worked great and removed the shelves, drilled a hole in the front door, installed a tap on the door, and put a keg inside of it.

My old man still has a 30 y/o Whirlpool in the garage than runs as well as the day he bought it.

The new Samsung he bought for my mom was a total POS - the compressor has failed TWICE in 3 years. After the second time he threw it out and bought an LG which has been better but still glitchy.

I had one of those when I lived in Lafayette, gave it to my neighbor when I moved to Fl, still running after over thirty years, and it looked like it was thirty when I found it, one of those old rounded top fridges

Who doesn't have a beer fridge? Mine is in the wash room with the washer and dryer. By neighbor has his in his garage.

You can't fill the refrigerator in your kitchen with beer, wine and liquor because it takes up too much space, and folks will think you are a nonfunctioning alcoholic. Any functioning alcoholic can plan ahead enough to have a beer fridge.

PS: I am sure I will get about 5 years out of the new one before it dies.

You're probably not far off. We've been in our house for 25 years and I'm on my 4th refrigerator and I bought a brand new one when we first moved in. They definitely don't make them like they used to

Can you not get parts for it to fix it?

Mine is a Sears Kenmore from about 1980. It's that weird vanilla color.

This was a Kenmore 27 in the same color. I say 30 years old but could be older I just do not see a model number on it anywhere.

It should be inside the door on a sticker on the left side.

Mine passed in 2023. Weighs a ton. I couldn't part with it so I use it for storage for things like light bulbs.

I know an office where a wood grained Goldstar is cooling someone’s lunch right now.
