Don't they threaten this bullshite every time there's a shutdown looming? (Because government spends like a drunken sailor) they just lock the gates...even though there should be nothing stopping people from walking around a park.

Getting rid of the fat. Companies shed workers and salaries every year. This was past over due, but they can learn to code as Pedo Joe said

And this isn't musk doing the firing anyway is it? Just making recommendations to cut the bloat

So many people are going to look like absolute idiots when a year from now there isn’t going to be any “collapse and chaos” that so many of you are predicting
The only other time in modern American history (post 1930s) that there was any sizeable reduction in the federal workforce was in the mid 1990s, when the Clinton admin reduced the size of the federal workforce by 17%. What happened next was economic expansion and balanced budgets.
Also, you same people predicted Javier Milei was going to cause chaos in Argentina when he cut the size of the govt workforce there by 15%. There was no chaos and now Argentina has budget surpluses for first time in a long time.
I’m not predicting budget surpluses (because Medicare and social security are main drivers of deficits), but I am predicting that the average American will absolutely not notice any difference in their quality of life.
Meanwhile, the savings produced by reducing the workforce can be used to either reduce the deficit (which would lower interest rates) as we saw in the 90s, or it can be used to fund tax relief for households.
Another important effect will be private firms gaining access to a new supply of labor. This will help the worker shortage and will expand production in growing industries.
You learn in Econ 101 that it’s good for an economy when a job that previously required 2 people to perform now requires just one person: it frees up labor that can now engage in economic activity that wasn’t possible before.
At the end of the day, there’s nothing you can do about this. These jobs are cut for good. The next democratic president is not going to rehire all these people or work to bring back the scope of the administrative state currently being curtailed.

In the wake of what has been described as “catastrophic” staffing challenges caused by President Donald Trump’s sudden National Park Service hiring freeze, Yosemite National Park has announced that it is delaying the sale of summertime reservations for campsites at some of its most popular campgrounds.
The delay affects reservations at Upper Pines, Lower Pines, North Pines, Wawona and Hodgdon Meadow campgrounds from June 15 to July 14, the park announced Friday on social media.
Campsite reservations at the affected campgrounds are released online on the 15th of every month five months in advance, and reservations for summertime campsites are known to sell out almost instantly.
While it’s unclear why the decision was made to delay upcoming reservation dates, the announcement comes as park workers brace for Yosemite’s first summer without a huge swath of the seasonal and short-term employees who help keep the park running during its busiest season. In particular, much of the park’s campground operations rely on seasonal staff, especially for functions related to maintenance and fee collection.
Yosemite draws crowds in the millions during summer months, forcing visitors to contend with factors like traffic jams and overflowing parking areas. Even in winter months, crowds have been known to cause damage to popular areas within the park, leaving behind trash and other nuisances for workers.

What happened in the years following this......
Proves this bit......
......to be doubtful.

With the way our federal gov operates with the 4/8 year whiplash between different party executive control, if a Democrat wins in 2028 they're going to basically set up a task force to rehire everyone who wants their job back. "Send in your resume and your job is yours again if you want it." The only way these cuts have a chance of becoming permanent is if JD Vance wins in 2028. Then it will be 8 or 12 years of job cuts and the bitching and push to bring people back will have passed and the fed expansion will happen at a much slower rate.

Look this up- what % of federal income tax revenue comes from the bottom 50% of earners?
I’ll save you some time, it’s nearly 0.
We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem. We don’t need higher taxes.

So, 43,000 people are probationary, which means less than 1 year of service. Cutting 1,000 saves $98 million. So, people with less than 1 year of service are making an average of $98,000 per year. That leaves 42,000 (less than a year of service) employes making $4,116,000,000. While that seems crazy and is a huge number the real question is........
....Why did the VA need to hire 43,000 people last year? Thats like 10% + of total VA employment.
There was some kind of rule change that instantaneously qualified a bunch of vets for disability that previously could not qualify. I know, because I work for a company that is a supplier to the VA, and our business increased dramatically last year. I'm guessing that is the reason for the large number of VA new-hires.

US Forest Service fires 3,400 workers, Park Service cuts 1,000
Reuters source
Per your Reuters link the cuts amount to about 10% percent of the U.S. Forest Service workforce and about 5% of Park Service employees. When you look at the big picture the numbers aren't so bad, especially when most permanent terminations are related to DEI hires and offices. The true purpose is to remove all the DEI bullshite. See details below.
quote:
Hiring freeze
President Donald Trump's executive order froze federal hiring in January 2025.
The order also required agencies to terminate DEIA-related contractors and cancel DEIA-related trainings.
The order also required agencies to submit a plan to reduce the workforce in DEIA offices.
Staffing cuts
The Department of the Interior terminated about 1,000 National Park Service employees.
The National Park Service also rescinded job offers to seasonal workers.
The hiring freeze and layoffs have left parks understaffed, forcing them to make difficult decisions about operating hours, public safety, and resource protection.
DEI offices
The federal government has taken steps to reduce or eliminate DEI offices.

No, that is not what that means at all. That figure likely includes the cost of employer provided Healthcare as well as other benefits that don't directly equate to salary.

The NPS isn't one of the reasons we are 40 trillion in debt
Maybe not but decades of unmonitored Government hiring and spending have contributed to that number . I mean they are firing people at Gov agencies i didn't even know existed. Finally someone actually looking at Fed gov books.

It is though. We are spending as if we are in abundance, when we arent. You can spend money on novelty things like lots of park rangers...when you arent 40 trillion in debt
Novelty things like park rangers aren’t going to save you anything. It’s just going to make the country worse without them.
In the 2024 fiscal year, about 3% of the federal budget went to federal employee compensation. You could wipe out every single federal employee there is, live in the resulting chaos, and be more than proud you saved 3-4%.

Unless you cut Social Security, Defense, Medicare, and Medicaid it’s all just charades to make you believe something was done. While at the same time making the country a worse place to live.

I mean we should be cutting these programs, but reducing spending is almost always a good thing, and it's like 60 days in let's give them a chance to cut their things as well.

The only legit thing from that self aggrandizing list was
“I am the resistance.”
Of course, it’s reality that he is resisting, but that doesn’t seem to be an issue for you.
