They give the taxpayers back the taxpayers’ money taken from them. It’s not a gift or welfare.
A tax cut also is not giving back money to a taxpayer. It’s the stoppage of taking their money.
Most aren’t pushing for zero taxes. It’s the amount plus the ones paying nothing for years while voting taxes on others and receiving out of proportion welfare in all its forms across govt levels and departments that usually aggravates most.

This is not uncommon in big reductions.
What is uncommon and typical of the inefficient and bloated federal govt is not having contact info for employees.
You would think people overseeing nuclear stockpiles would need to list an emergency contact or spouse. You would also think personal paperwork would have to be stored and accessible for a set time frame.
One thing that wouldn’t surprise is the pettiness or sabotage coming from the political positions in various departments along with the typical “aggrieved” worker causing issues. November 6th to January 20th is enough time to create messes (wish transfers were done sooner after election). Clinton’s people were petty leaving the white house. Obama’s were more about sabotaging or obstructing Trump. I feel like Biden’s will be worse as those people have now been suffering TDS for just over 8 years and were already using lawfare or other to try to stop Trump from winning election.

And I doubt the Canadian water bombers will be available. They better hope for a quiet fire season this year.
This will no doubt be an absolute clusterfrick for Fed level wildfire response. They were already struggling to hire and retain wildland firefighters. They were unable to pass the payment bill for them. They have already laid off the seasonal workers per usual, now they likely just won't report. No stability in a job/profession that has already been absolutely hammered over the past few years. Add in that they are pitching the idea of completely revamping the wildland firefighting force at the Fed level, and I'd be praying for a very quiet fire season this year. You don't have the luxury of time with these particular decisions.

Given the size of the government yes there will be waste. Is it okay? No. But "billions" in a 4.5 trillion budget is nothing. Most of the tax revenue goes right back out as social security payments, Medicare, Medicaid, and military spending. If you want to talk about reforming those cool, but don’t be disillusioned into thinking "muh tax dollars just pay for trans people so shut it all down".

That’s the kind of thinking that got us into this mess. Any savings would be better than just writing it off due to size of govt.

We are nearly 40 trillion in dept numbnuts
The NPS isn't one of the reasons we are 40 trillion in debt
It is though. We are spending as if we are in abundance, when we arent. You can spend money on novelty things like lots of park rangers...when you arent 40 trillion in debt

If I'm not mistaken they're in the process of auditing Medicare, Medicaid and the DOD.
It's possible in this day and age of technology to look at all of it. The asinine "it's a drop in the bucket" narrative is what leads to waste on a larger scale.
Your silly logic of "this is the cost of living in a 1st world country" is an ignorant excuse to justify blatant fraud.

Is there a difference between a Park Ranger and an Educational Park Ranger?
Sounds like a waste of money if so.

Crazy the number of either paid trolls or bots since Trump was elected that are now shitposting on the site. I'm not quite sure what they are trying to accomplish though.

It’s absolutely happening. I’m friends with a park ranger and he’s posting a lot of stuff from his friends. These folks are all Trump supporters, by the way, and they are in shock. Some of the best rangers are being cut and there is no rhyme or reason to it. Just straight cuts and it’s getting everyone.
Good luck going to National Parks this year.

At the risk of being called names......
It definitely doesn't appear to have been planned out very well.

People get fired every day. He has a picture with his kid though so people think it's sad I guess. Welcome to the real world.
Try a more stable career.
Guessing there wasn't a bitch post on social media about him getting fired the first time. This time he could score some social media points.

Who? The OP who has been here since 2010? Me? I've been here for going on six years now. Forgive the confusion, you don't seem to know how to use the reply feature on this site. Hell, are YOU a paid troll? Hmmmmmm....

We're getting a highly polarized agenda driven side of the story.
I'm seeing where it was probationary employees. Which would make sense for a broad swathe cut, no severance. Maybe not the smartest but the entrenched bureaucrats aren't gonna fire themselves.
I'd wait and see how it plays out long term.

Veterans Affairs said Thursday it dismissed more than 1,000 of about 43,000 probationary employees across the department, producing an estimated savings of about $98 million.
So, 43,000 people are probationary, which means less than 1 year of service. Cutting 1,000 saves $98 million. So, people with less than 1 year of service are making an average of $98,000 per year. That leaves 42,000 (less than a year of service) employes making $4,116,000,000. While that seems crazy and is a huge number the real question is........
....Why did the VA need to hire 43,000 people last year? Thats like 10% + of total VA employment.
