Multi-fuel generator - who here has one?

I’m thinking of upgrading to 12k watt generator, runs on gas online or natural gas. It’s $1100. My incoming gas is right near my outside panel, so I could easily tap into there.

Mine runs on gas or propane….although if you run propane a bigger tank is necessary.

I’m with you. My generator is 8 years old. After this hurricane season is over I’m going to sell mine and buy one like this that is natural gas or gasoline. I have a natural gas supply line outside my back patio as well that I can hook it up too. Frick having to wait in lines for gas. I’m done with that.
By the way the one you have shown is propane and gas. Champion makes a tri fuel that is gas, propane, and natural gas.

I have a generator that I converted from gas to Nat gas. I run a 3/6 wire into my panel box and I can run everything in my house except for my central unit. I do plan to get a 14KW unit to be able to run my whole house.

Dual fuel is gasoline and propane. You’d need tri-fuel or a conversion kit for the NG. You also lose a lot of output on NG.
You can get it for cheaper than $1100 baw.

That was just the first picture I found, but I want a natural gas/ gasoline generator. And I don’t want to drop $8,000 on a Generac

Costco has firman trifuel generators for $799 but I belive they max out at 7500 running watts

The best bang for your buck on power and fuel consumption is the Westinghouse 9500 dual fuel. Have one, coworker is using it to run his house. It only uses 0.43 gph of propane at half load, so a 100 lb propane rank should last you 2 days minimum. The newer version with the CO sensor uses more propane. On gasoline it will run (and my coworker has achieved it) 17 hours on 6.6 gallons. Also has the 50 amp plug allowing me to run my 3 ton central unit with a soft start.
Champion has put out what I consider the best tri-fuel, but it only has a 30 amp plug. Will be suitable for most people only running window units and such.

I have that Firman. It's 5500 running watts with NG and 7500 with Gasoline. Will also run on propane.

That generator runs on gasoline or propane, not natural gas.

Yes. Have a Champion 10kw and it's made a big difference. Run it at 5 hr intervals 2x during the day and has powered the phone, freezer, TV, computers, portable AC unit & a window unit (ttl 1/2 load capacity) the past 5 days on ~6 gallons of gas/ day. It runs through propane quickly, so prefer gasoline.. Have to check the fluid levels daily otherwise gtg. F'ing @ with propane tanks and gas cans is a pia.

This is the same unit I have. Remote/electric start, and runs like a top. It’s a little on the loud side, but is a very solid unit. It ran the entire house with no problem, however I do have a soft start on my a/c unit. I think I paid around 750.00 for it on Amazon 2yrs ago. If I had to do it over again the only thing different I would’ve done was buy a larger one.
