Mt. Carmel apparently isn’t for everyone...

Specifically, girls in wheelchairs....

The actual lawsuit is linked in that article.
I’ve been on that campus many times. It’s ADA-friendly.
This seems like an odd lawsuit... but if that voicemail is true, that’s very odd.
Legally because they are a private school I’m guessing they can do this... but it’s surely not a Catholic thing to do...

According to the lawsuit, after the girl’s mom registered for an open house at Mount Carmel, an 8th-12th school, she called to inform the administration about her daughter’s wheelchair and need for an aide if admitted. Later that day, she got a voicemail.
“I do want to tell you that we do not have the capabilities of accepting your child. She just is precious. One day perhaps I will meet her. However, we don’t have the accommodations, and I do think our academic program would be substantially difficult for her,” said the woman on the voicemail.
The woman who left the voicemail identifies herself as Sister Camille Anne, who according to the lawsuit is the president of the school. The school’s website lists its president as Sister Camille Anne Campbell.

I'm guessing it's the cerebral palsy and not the wheelchair.

If she went to shite schools and just did decently, they have all the right in the world to turn her down. The wheelchair thing could just mean they don’t want to rearrange every damn class so her C student could attend. I hope this bitch goes broke suing and doesn’t get shite.

Wild.
Rummel had elevators and ramps even when I was there over a decade ago.

I don't think they can refuse to admit her based on being in a wheelchair. They can refuse to admit her based on academics, though.

“Mount Carmel today is not the Mount Carmel you and I were in, in 1989. Just the number of buildings we have, the number of floors in the buildings, so many things have changed and I’m very sad to have to say this to you, but I do believe it’s best for the child,” continued the woman on the voicemail.
That's pretty stupid to say on a voicemail. Mom finna eat

Agreed. I'm not sure whether the lawsuit has merit or not, but the Sister could have phrased things a little differently. Or at least met with the mother in person rather than leaving that voicemail.

who's going to pay for the aide this young lady is going to require?
this isn't a public school with ADA support programs...

And if the girl applied, provided her transcripts, and they were deemed not worthy, that would be perfectly reasonable.
None of those things happened.

I was at that open house last week and I only remember seeing an elevator in one of the buildings. I don’t think all the buildings had them.
But I could be wrong
But I could be wrong

Yeah he’s not claiming ADA noncompliance. He’s suing under other laws.
He’s also claiming noncompliance with PPP rules... which is certainly an interesting idea.
