Does the child also have mental handicaps as well?

Legally because they are a private school I’m guessing they can do this... but it’s surely not a Catholic thing to do...

Most Catholic schools, especially those that are non-parochial catholic schools do not have the resources for special needs students of any type. To hire the resources for those students would bankrupt the schools.

Which is more catholic - trying to educate as many students in a positive environment as possible or bringing the whole thing down trying to cater to a small handful of special needs students?

Sounds like they may also suspect diminished mental capacity.

That’s southern speak for “frick you.”

very true.

I always loved the southern way of completely talking shite about someone then adding “bless his/her heart” at the end as if that makes it ok

So is this why she can't go? Maybe her grades aren't good enough.

Then require the family to provide the resources.

SO how does that work? We are talking $100s of thousands of dollars - people, facility changes, and other items. You really think a voice mail saying "we are looking forward to your child matriculating at Holy Angels, your special fee is going to be $125,000 per year with a year one payment of $600,000 for us to make the facility and personnel changes necessary to take care of your little bundle of joy. If you read the article you posted the girl is home schooled.

From the article...

quote:

Currently being homeschooled, grades from the 13-year-old’s previous private school show mostly A’s and B’s the last two academic years.

If you read the actual lawsuit, it states the kid went to private school until COVID... and had an aide at that private school.

How would the school know this, if they did not review transcripts or give her a placement test?

Basically, yes.

Tell them they would be happy to admit her, but the family would be responsible for providing any aide required.

See how they like that idea.

I remember a while back a mom caused a huge stink at St. Catherine because she wanted her kid to go there but he was handicapped and there were no elevators in the building to get him to the second floor. They went out spent a ton of money and got a handicap elevator built just for him and the mom came back and was like nah I'm gonna take him to another school.

We had a guy at De La Salle in a wheelchair. And this was in the '70s. And the buildings were 2 story with with no elevators. But I don't remember how or even if he went to the second floor.

Man, Catholic institutions abused boys, girls, single mothers and let babies die.

They are awful and this is normal.
