They wouldn’t do this if they weren’t getting a lot more service. Maybe hub status.

Build it first with no road to get there....

It would help New Orleans tourism and convention business with more service

I read that they were adding an inside the airport tram from the new terminal to the parking and rental area on the other side of the airport.

They should add some kind of tram or light rail from the airport to the french quarter with stops along the way

Look at the responses to this topic to see the extent to which everyone now thinks it’s cool to prove who can react to good news by being the biggest choad.

Part of the plan was an Amtrak terminal to get from the airport to downtown.

Some people are miserable and hate advancement. A better airport helps millions

The taxi drivers would fight this tooth and nail

Insane take.
Its really not. There are much better, more roomy airports that have been built/renovated lately.

Good public transportation from the airport to the quarter is a great idea. Hopefully they do it at some point.

This is needed badly. At MSY, you have to take a bus and sit through traffic lights. Other airports will announce the exact time it takes to get to your destination with no stops. Its maddening

Is it? An uber is like $40 and a taxi I am sure is similar. The second you add a stop anywhere between the airport and the quarter it will be ruined by the locals. The cost of doing something like that will be astronomical and can be better spent elsewhere.

The first stop should be the rental cars and overflow short term parking of the old airport. Taking buses to rentals once you get to an airport or in order to get to from rental to an airport sucks. One thing worse is having to take a bus when parking your own vehicle because short and long term are both full.
New Orleans is a good airport except for the parking issues.

do not live there anymore so I don’t use it much but the new airport feels Busch League. I liked the old one better.
I say this what all due respect but that is fricking retarded

I will be the first to admit I was wrong about the new terminal, and it's actually very nice and well designed.
However, the security is a cluster and needs to be sorted out

New Orleans: the flagship city of Louisiana and the economic powerhouse of the gulf south coming through again. That city transcends Teedy. Just a fact!
