Dont worry about the smell after a couple of hours the hydrogen sulfide deadens your sense of smell, on the plus side if your shite yourself no one will notice because you all smell that way, oh and it is gonna be hotter than hell in July.

Live in Covington, Madisonville or Goodbee. Anything north of these areas are shitholes.

Yeah I'm used to the smell of paper mills. I've been at corporate so it'll take some getting used to. At least New Orleans isn't terribly far

We do contract work out there so I have been there a couple of times and with IP's new safety representative rule I will be there more than I want to be.

Covington to Bogalusa would be a pretty long commute IMO. I was just at Bogue Chitto state park this weekend and it is about a 30 minute drive from there into covington depending on traffic and the park is a good 20-30 from Bogalusa as it is between Folsom and Franklinton. I would definitely live north of Covington if working in Bogalusa. Hell maybe even in MS as property value should be cheaper.

Where are you moving from? I'd move to Abita. Nice town between work and Covington/Mandeville.
Do you have kids in school? That may change things if you're looking at school districts.
