It's a beautiful town but damn it's pretty ghetto.

They have a Minor league team with a name almost as bad as the Baby Cakes

Depends on your budget. Savannah ain't all the historic district.

It can get dicey pretty quick. You should hang out at Franklin Square.

A lot like New Orleans. It's beautiful, but rough in parts.

I've got a friend by Bacon Park golf course and he like it. It's more ranch style housing and isn't as congested.

I have another friend in Parkside and he really likes it. He's younger though (mid 20's).

I like the location. ATL, Orlando, Charlotte, jacksonville etc. are all reasonable driving distances.

My wife interned at the BASF Savannah River plant last Summer

She stayed in an apartment built out of an old carriage house in the Victorian District.

Like others have said. Pick your residence very carefully.

No complaints here as she loved it there but was very vigilant about her surroundings especially at night.

I lived there for a couple years around '97-'98. I'm sure it's changed some but overall, I loved it. The first year, I lived on the south side right off Abercorn st. It's the newer part of savannah with plenty of shopping and things to do. The second year, I moved just outside of town onto Wilmington island. It was very nice and quiet. You can live closer to the historic district also if you'd like. Just stay away from the downtown area around St. patricks day weekend unless your into that kinda thing. It gets crazy. At least, it used to.
