Covington might honestly be better unless you have the money to live in a nice place.

Op, it's a good choice.

Forget Savannah Beach or Tybee Island. Go to Edisto in the Summers as it is much nicer.

Be prepared for a lot of artsy people as the Savannah College of Art and Design is a great school with a decently high enrollment

Fort Pulaski is a decent day trip if you like history and Charleston is a short trip as well.

If you're only going to be there for a few years, it should serve your needs much better than Covington

I would suggest living in a neighboring county - Effingham or Bryan. The taxes are much, much cheaper and you don't have to put up with shite, either. Don't forget that Charleston isn't but an 1 1/2 hours away, and much better than Savannah.

Be prepared for traffic though. It's a grid system and can be worked around but Waze will be your friend

Don't let the traffic thing fool you. Savannah isn't that big and traffic is nothing, really. You'll get more traffic at the 21/95 deal than in Savannah. I live in Effingham, about 20 mins from Savannah.

Being that I grew up in Effingham, that's where I would say. Do you have kids? That would be the kicker...there is no way in hell that I would put my kids in a Chatham school. None. Effingham's are up in the state and mine go there.

Personally, South Guyton or maybe Rincon (me). It's a short jump to Savannah, 95, etc.

No kids then changes things. I like the areas mentioned because of taxes. Where are you planning on working?
