Sand Gnats

2nd worst thing about Savannah after the ghetto.

I love Savannah though. Just be warned about sand gnats in the sand traps on the golf course. Those bites are MISERABLE.

From all the tidbits ive gleaned and for the price range you listed I'd focus on Wilmington. for my money anyway. relatively quiet, its a cheap $20 Breezy ride home from Tybee, and you could possibly find something a stones throw from the marsh. Rincon, methingham, et al arent bad drives if your from Atl and used to it. but nobody working in Sav usually likes to live much further than pooler one way or the islands the other

Im living in Atl at the moment but keep a place on tybee. Its very true that its like N.O. in that its an unforgiving city of vices. If youre single and like to hang out in a bar, buckle up

And downtown Sav is also similar in that you can be touring the historic district or having drinks at city market and wander a block the wrong way and get stabbed in the throat

And sorryy about the smell

What do you mean by, "If you're single and like to hang out in a bar, buckle up"?

Buckle up for a fun ride? Or a bad ride?

Just say theres a thriving bar culture there. most tourist under 70 come to Sav to get hammered and leave on sunday. a ton of batshit inebriated single women everywhere you go

It's a great place to live if you live in the garden/park district (Bull St), otherwise you'll be looking to the suburbs. Get ready for St Pat's day, it's like an Irish Mardi Gras down by the river.

I was there this past weekend and did not see the ghetto.

I thought it was like a clean New Orleans. A lot of parks.

I've been in Savannah for 6 years............do not move here unless you must.

Live out on Wilmington island if you must. Always carry while downtown and you will still get robbed. Seriously frick this city!

Very few issues downtown if you stay in the touristy areas.

What made you choose Savannah over Covington?

I'd have to drive 45 minutes both ways to work and more of my friends live near Savannah

How can you hate Savannah? Something personal must have happened.

I went to a wedding there recently and loved it.

River Street

Has always been dead at night when I have visited.

There is a newer section of bars that was hopping though. Don't recall the name.
