Not knowing your salary, the areas I mentioned have a better COL than in Savannah.

It's a nice place to live. Planning on commuting in or finding a place in town?

I live in Ardsley Park and it's been great. Close to downtown and I can also hit Victory Drive and be at Tybee in 15 minutes (if Tybee traffic cooperates).

That area isn't bad. Good luck getting into IP every day.

Granted, I do work in town so I'm not even touching the nightmare of traffic heading in and out during commuting hours

The traffic hiccup from my area is the 21/95 area. Hopefully they will have that construction finished soon.

How important is night life, going out to eat, having drinks etc to you? Some of the areas outside of Savannah that have been mentioned are quite a trek. I would imagine an uber from downtown to somewhere like Guyton would be a pretty penny. My average uber from downtown to the islands is about ten bucks.

Couple of guys that work out of our Savannah Field Office live on Wilmington Island and seem to like it. I know traffic can be a bitch getting down 21 with Weyerhaeuser and Gulf Stream shift changes and getting to IP.

Can be is not the descriptor you are looking for. I used work at Gulfstream. Plan on an hour of traffic at least.

I was trying to be generous. I would either get to the plant an hour early, or I would back track 95/16/516 and just not deal with 21.

No doubt. That construction is BS. Why do they have to work in the daytime at rush hour?

So yeah basically i'm looking for a house to rent n the 1500 range.

1. Nice area
2. Easy distance to IP, downtown and some beach area
3. Would like a gym nearby. Unless theres one near IP
4. Easy distance to restaurants/bars

I drive it everyday to Georgia Ports. The traffic is far worse coming from Effingham area. The entire countyear that works in savannah or savannah river industrial sites funnel to one highway.
