A guy named Collin Raye moved up to Little Rock to get his life back on track. Odd choice, I know. He wanted to prove to his ex that he was solid again, like a stone, if you will. He wanted her to come visit him so she could see. You see, there was only one problem with Little Rock to Collin. Without his ex’s love, he wasn’t himself.

*Will be traveling there fairly often (only been a couple of times so far)
Do you fly or drive from Lafayette there? The drive is brutal from my experience

I drive, flying just isn’t worth it when you have to connect in Houston or Dallas. I don’t think it’s brutal at all and I really enjoy it and find it relaxing. I’d rather drive to Little Rock than most places that involve I10 or I12. Take 49 from Laffy then get on 167N in Alex and take that nearly all the way to Little Rock. Beautiful drive that takes you through Kisatchie National Forest and the pine covered hills of South Arkansas. Hardly any traffic, just watch your speed in small towns.

I agree with trill.

Not really that much to do there IMO for a city of that size.

You are probably wise looking at Benton/Bryant.

I actually agree. If you wanna live in a nice part of Little Rock you’re going to meet some snobby/yuppie types (relative to Arkansas standards).

That documentary was the first thing I thought of. I specifically recall an interview with the 13 or 14 row black girl asking her why she banged.

I’m down for mine was her answer

I live in Little Rock and it really just depends on what you want to do. Are you going to rent at first or buy? How much are you looking to spend if you buy or rent? What's your marital status and do you have kids?

Bryant, Benton areas are fine. They have good school districts but they are redneckish cities, Bryant much more so.

Heights, Hillcrest area is fine but the neighborhood is real old, the houses are old and tiny and in my opinion buying there would be overrated as opposed to going west of i430. Anything south of i630 You you should avoid unless it's west of i430 until your out of the city limits. Cabot and Sherwood suburbs are nice as is Maumelle and Conway.

I've spent a lot of time in LR and have never had any problems. Of course, I know where not to go.
If I were to move to that area I would move to Maumelle or Sherwood.

ETA: If you're in your 20's and single, then Conway.

When you get up there checks out their system of parks connected by a trail along both sides of the river, really top notch.

Funroe area. So.....yeah.

Well hello fellow Funroenite. I tried NLR for a year and LR for two years when I first moved north. Settled in my present location about 30 years ago. Great schools, practically no crime and only 35-40 minutes from the LR metro.

If you settle in LR, go as far west as you can to get away from downtown.
