There's also a movement to rename Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis High Schools in Montgomery, AL.
Lee is ~90% black (established in 1955). JD is ~94% black (established in 1968). Locals tore down the Lee statue that was in front of the school a week or two ago.
Smaller movement to rename Sidney Lanier HS (established in 1929). 99% black.

Dr. Dadrius L Anus has a pernt. Kip Holden High has a nice ring to it. Maybe Dr. L Anus can provide the funding for a statue with an extensive wardrobe.

I have no issue changing the names of stuff like this to some person from the community, and then in 100 years changing it to some other person in the community
Gary Chambers High School has a nice ring to it. He’s a community hero and also African American so I think it should work

Rename the school, if ACT/SAT scores don’t improve 20% that same year pull funding for wasting everyone’s time on symbolic BS that has no actual impact on people’s lives.

They can kiss my arse. That is my alma mater and that’s a lie about trying for decades. They should have never changed it from Robert E Lee High School or changed the mascot from Rebels to Patriots. That sounds so ghey. The first time I ever heard about changing the name was A few years back when it was rebuilt after they demolished it

I thought this was taken care of already when the Robert E. part was removed when it reopened.

Well Wikipedia says we already did do this.
Lee Magnet High School has been targeted for name changes multiple times throughout its new life. The East Baton Rouge Parish school system held multiple public meetings to discuss new names for the school. The school board in the end decided not to rename the school.[1] When the school became a magnet school it was renamed from "Robert E. Lee High School" to "Lee Magnet High School".

Damn. The parish it self is only 45 percent black. Just shows you that all the whites are in private schools.

Gravy going all in:
Gary Chambers, publisher of The Rouge Collection and one of the more outspoken voices in favor of changing the name of Lee High, on Saturday revived his call to find a new name for the school. He also is pressing again to rename several streets near the high school in the Southdowns Subdivision, including Lee Drive, named after Confederate generals

Good,long overdue.
They JUST did it. When it was rebuilt this was brought up and the COMPRIMISE that everyone agreed to was changing the name from Robert E Lee HS to Lee Magnet High.
Perfect example of a certain group never holding up their end of an agreement
ETA: I know because it cost CSRS tens of thousands of dollars to have the sign changed late in the summer before it opened.

Pretty sure it's Lee magnet now...named after Bruce I assume

I did to. I guess these idiots are trying to push everything through while all the people who make decisions in our country have caved to them. Some of these people need to grow a pair and say NO for a change

They just did this for Robert E. Lee elementary in Austin. Here were the community's nominations:
(They ended up naming it after Russell Lee, a photographer from the school’s neighborhood who started UT’s photography program - less things to change)

Name the school Melvin Lee Holden High School. He is from the community, Lee is his middle name, he was the first black mayor of Baton Rouge, and he seems well liked by most.
