Oh shite, the kid really has ADHD, is in a special program at the school, and the teacher knew that...

Yeah, she's gone.

I'm sure the parents of the "Fatty McFatty" and "Gingerest" awards are pretty happy as well.

You're right, doesn't mean that I wouldn't give her a high five in the lounge.

Yeah, who wants to live in a world where authority figures are criticized for ridiculing children?

Lol... Mom's mad her kid got a shitty award. Teacher will probably get fired, and all of little Derek's classmates are going to call him Zombie-Boy from now on.

And Zombie Boy will be a failure at life because mom is coddling his hyper active arse.

She should be fired, and unlike most of the stories these days she actually DESERVES to be fired.
Very very poor judgment. And to the people saying this would have been OK back in the day, bullshite.

I blame teacher pay and unions. Teachers are important and we do not attract the best people to do it. We get a bunch of lazy arse nasty women to be teachers these days.

Make Teaching Great Again!!!

"Back in the day" every third kid wasn't diagnosed ADD/ADHD.

Calls the teacher: "Excuse me. I need to speak to your manager."

That's a great way to passive-aggressively tell the parent their kid is a little shite.
Hooray for the teacher.

This is quite different than not getting an all A trophy when the kid didn't earn it or being chosen last for a sporting even. This was a deliberate attempt to "cut" the kid and assault his feelings. And, yes in the real world no one will care about feelings. But he's still young and the "award" was inappropriate.

Teacher chose the teaching profession because she was unfit for anything else.

frick these people that hide behind the adhd diagnosis and never correct their kids. Yea it sucks that your child has issues but it doesn’t excuse from doing your job as a parent. It actually means u should work twice as hard but these shitty parents these days think it’s a reason to not be hard on their kids.

Or it was an attempt at showing this kid he can be proud of who he is. ADD doesn't have to be something to be ashamed of.

Maybe he really is embarrassed, but something makes me think the teacher believed this would be taken in good humor.

He's not a little kid, he's 13 years old. My homeroom teacher in middle school used to make fun of me and my friends all the time and we'd give it back to him. It wasn't ever personal.

If his feelings were hurt by this, it's the parents' fault.
