Soooo, a tux isnt appropriate for funerals?
It’s a delicate balancing act, but you can pull it off with the right accessories:

I've seen someone wear a tux jacket to a funeral before

Dark grey - charcoal can be a bit too dark at times.
Grey and navy are both appropriate in most instances, but grey is more somber and often feels more appropriate.

Navy. No question.
If you're going to start buying some nice, tailored suits, you want to start with a navy suit. It's a staple. Don't listen to anyone saying gray. The majority of the dudes in here dress like shite.

You can never go wrong with seersucker.

Grey. Charcoal or dark grey to be specific. Light grey isn't as versatile

Definitely a question. Navy is better for weddings, but shouldn't be worn to funerals. Gray can be worn to funerals, and also weddings. Gray is more appropriate for business.
Navy can be a first suit, and should definitely be your second suit. But I would recommend gray for most people.

If a navy suit was an animal, what would it be?

Wear your birthday suit. It's extremely versatile and acceptable in all situations.

Charcoal or navy.
I have 7 suits, but I wear those 2 80% of the time.
