My buddy married a rich girl. He said it seems like a good idea until you find out you get the maintenance but not the money.

If you’re going to have children, chose someone that would be a good parent and you could make tough parental decisions with.

If no children, just know you can always get divorced. Get a prenup to make it easy on yourself.

If kids, even if you get divorced, you will be forever connected to this individual.

My wife's work ethic is her most admiring attribute to me. Whether she is getting paid or volunteering to do a job, she tackles every assignment head on. She knows no other way

Me, I'm a half-asser.

1.) ability to not annoy me and to be agreeable at least 90% of the time
2.) very physically attractive
3.) make as much, or close to as much, money as i do
4.) potential ability to be an absolutely amazing mother
5.) willing to "walk through fire", if need be, to support me, no matter what

Lots of important things, but I can't be around people that take themselves too seriously.

If you can't laugh about yourself and others and life in general, then we can't hang out

I would pay close attention to how a woman reacts when things don’t go well. If she has trouble handling routine adult problems on her own and tends to freak out and get emotional over stupid shite, that’s a major red flag.

You should look up the Universal Hot/Crazy Matrix on YouTube. It’s pretty funny and has a lot of truth to it.

Connection.
Relaxed
Easy going
Low maintenance
Good looking
Sense of humor
Positive outlook
Outdoor appreciation.

I don't give a shite about how much money they make or what they do for a living.

Well, I'm a woman, but I can tell you what my husband would say, "someone who can say, I was wrong, and I'm sorry."

No offense, but this reads like you are a self-centered dipshit

I can relate, but I'm not so overt about it. Me...me..me...and then good mother???then more me..

Yeah, that's a pretty egotistical list.

Shared values and moral code.

Example: friends went to London, went on train to Bath. Tickets weren't punched either way. Girl wanted to reuse the next day, our Friend didn't because he'd already gotten the value he paid for.

Example: Watch an episode of Hoarders. Reactions of both should be the same.

Example: Attitudes about pets (and spec. pit bulls)

Example: Desired family size, child discipline.

Well, looks are what is the probable initial attraction. That could mean physical looks or the look of how he/she carries themselves and acts.

To me, the more important thing is how they act. Are they the responsible, go get it type or are they the leach/parasite ilk that expect you to deliver it? By the way, I prefer the first option and would never settle for the latter type.

I'm not a religious guy, so I'd probably not get along with a Bible thumper, Holier Than Thou persona and have never really tried.

I'm also not too crazy about the "my kids are my life, they can do nothing wrong, but if they do I'll not admonish them in any way so they won't grow up scarred" type.

Kids need discipline, guidelines to live by, chores to do to learn how to be independent when the time comes, etc. or they wind up being totally inept adults who have a hard time coping with the word "NO" and the fact they can actually fail at something and things won't be OK.

I'm retired and my wife still works since she is still a few years away from the magical age of Social Security and her pension. She has done well in her field of work and is a valued employee with the company she works for. That has gone a long way in boosting her confidence in the workforce and in dealing with influential people. She has really grown as a confident woman and if anything should happen to me and she winds up on her own, I know she'll be OK and can cope both mentally and financially.

If she loves Jesus.

Spirituality is the only sure way to have a healthy relationship that will never end.

Notice how I didn’t say religion. That’s different.
