Don't answer the phone?

No they don't. This is beyond reasonable. It's harrassement. My phone has been ringing constantly all morning, simply b/c I looked into a home equity loan. The invasion of privacy in today's world is out of control.

Any suggestions on how to make these calls stop?

Sorry. I thought we had excellent rapport, especially when I mentioned how much I appreciated that you took my call and you mentioned how fair the weather was.
It's so painful when I'm on the phone with some business and their poor agent is trying to build rapport with me making dumb small talk from a script.

It’s experian. They sell your info when you have a mortgage inquiry.
Credit agency reform needs to be the next big issue tackled by regulators.

Credit agency reform
Will never, ever, ever happen. Think of the Equifax breach, what happened?
Everything we do depends on information being sold about us, including for identity verification. What street did I live on in 1998? I don't know, but the bureaus do. Too many downstream feeders depending on various slices of data from your credit profile, it would make fixing insurance in Louisiana look like crossing the street.

probably. I went in there and locked my file and looked for anything i could turn off that had to do with sharing information.

Keep answering your phone just to screw with them.... I get paid a $5 referral fee for each call connected for more than 30 seconds.....
Or I can sell you your data back for a flat fee.

You're right, it is out of control. There should be something you can do about it.
But there isn't. The only solution is to silence unknown callers.
You don't want to do that because you take business calls. You also don't want to get another phone to give you the option to still have business calls while silencing unknown calls.
So, I say again, enjoy the calls.

I got one a few days ago from a "985" number. I politely asked where they were calling from. They named their business. I said no, I mean where are you physically located right now? What city?
Turns out they're somewhere in Indiana.
So with a slight aggressive tone, I tell them if they wanna discuss business with me, they could at least be honest and call me from a legitimate phone number rather than a spoofed one, and then I hung up on him.
That sonofabeyotch actually had the audacity to call me back from the bank he was sitting in, in Indiana. I guess one could say I asked for it.
Either way I told him to frick off and hung up on him again.

well i'll tell you what i've been telling the dipshits who have now called me 39 times today, and emailed me 7 times, and texted me 6 times. Go frick yourself.
I shouldn't have to silence all unknown calls to not be bothered by this, or get another phone. That should not be the solution to this.
It is complete bullshite that they have been able to do this simply b/c I made an inquiry to my current mortgage company.

I used to never get any spam calls, but brother I have the same thing happening to me. Recently bought a house so I guess that's why. My phone has been getting absolutely raped every day with spam calls from spoofed "local" numbers.

They're called trigger leads. Once your mortgage person runs your application, it triggers that info and goes to companies that buy these leads. They're crap companies that try to make money for the smallest investment and the LOs that work for them really aren't mortgage people, They're just telemarketers.

Two fun things to do.
Answer it, put it on speaker, and then start hitting numbers on the key. Stop and when they start talking again hit some more numbers, repeat until they hang up.
Tell them you know this is Domino's and demand to know why your pizza is late. When they reply, scream that you want your pizza now. Keep on screaming that.

Hey man, I agree with you. You shouldn't.
But you do.

It's because you googled mortgage or was talking about it near your phone.
The other day I was just talking to someone about a random subject, five minutes later I open google and it suggest an article about the subject we were discussing.
They've been doing this shite for over ten years.

I got 12 calls yesterday starting about an hour after talking with my mortgage company.
They are desperate. Every mortgage guy I knew was rolling in it during the low interest rate days. All of that has come to a screeching halt.
