Sad times are when ignorance reigns most supreme. Nile Kinnick is a little known American treasure. Iowa’s grand theater for college football is named in his honor, because he is one of the most honorable young men to ever grace the fields of major college ball.

Last night, some self indulgent youth defaced his honor in protest of Iowa’s meathead strength and conditioning coach, who is being accused of racially charged discrimination.

Nile Kinnick said this in 1943:

“It is not enough for the privileged to treat the less fortunate, or the whites to treat the colored people, with kindly tolerance and indulgent paternalism. All people of whatever creed, nationality, or color must be accorded equal dignity and human worth. Both Christianity & true democracy demand this fundamental acknowledgment. Social & economic & racial inequities cannot be solved in a moment, & in some respects it is best that we make haste slowly, but this truth is basic and is the starting point & foundation on which to build."

The Brits also vandalized Churchill’s statue.

That’s sad to see. It also reaffirms my belief that these ‘protesters’ aren’t of the highest intellect.

Nah, I’ve long been unrepresented in this realm of polarized politics.

Best part is that the black former players that brought all this to light, one of whom is a current NFL DT, went nuts when this shite happened, hopped in a car to Iowa City, and helped clean it up. I saw the surveillance shots; bunch of milky white kids doing it.

I think it comes from the old TV show, Adam-12. The 12 refers to the police.

I’m 40 and though I’ve heard of this show I can’t recall ever seeing it. I’m perplexed how a bunch of pasty white millennials made the connection. That’s some random arse shite.

Maybe it is more a response to the racism that ran rampant in the U of I football program than Kinnick.

Libraries and Employment Agencies so far have been spared being vandalized for some reason.

So people can make the reference to a 70s tv show but they don’t know who the people they are spraying paint on are?

I understand to what it is in response, but that doesn’t make it any less misguided and ignorant. If anything, they should be pointing to that statue as an example of what the program should be.

Also, nobody is saying “racism has run rampant” in Iowa’s football program. They're saying that Iowa’s program quelled black urban culture within the football facility. All these cats talking shite about Doyle are saying they love Ferentz and the University and the program. They just want to be able to be themselves. I can empathize.

Ferentz is an old boy like your religious granddaddy; banned team from all social media long ago to prevent these kids from hanging themselves with just enough rope. It pissed off a lot of the black players the last several years as social issues heated up. He’s been looking into this for 2-3 years now—saw that black graduation rates were tanking due to transfer, brought back some former players to help guide him. Guy cares, and he will rise from this like a fricking Phoenix from the ashes.
