Bridge buckled? Did not know that. Where did you hear this?

Just try to drive over it at 55mph. Before opening it, that was the speed limit. After, dropped to 45 mph due to each section is higher or lower to the next section. Road sucks and will make you hit your head on the roof. Been driving over it the last 35+ years and it changed a shite load after last opening.

Watching the spillway open back in 2011 was an amazing sight. We were all dazed at the TV in awe.

I have a cousin that lived in Morganza at the time and he shot some video on his cell phone up close and personal....talk about whew

Nah, it won't be like 2011.

MO issued a state of emergency this morning.

In 2011, the Kentucky Damn peaked at 371.5'. This was to prevent further flooding downstream of the Ohio and Mississippi. Local authorities are being told Kentucky Dam is already projected to be over 373' in a week. TVA is currently spilling into the Ohio. If they stop, and raise the water level to 373 like projected, that means they anticipate it to be as bad as 2011.

Went over it in 2011 back when all the hullabaloo was going on. It really was something to see. And that damn water was cold.

We always here the doom and gloom prognostications of what happens if the Old River Control Structure fails.

To ask a stupid question...

What's the downside of this? The river changes course and New Orleans no longer has a river? As well as wiping out everything below the Control Structure? Or not that drastic... or worse than that?

Hard to believe if they do need to open it. Has topped the potato ridge yet?

2011 was only the second time ever, 1973 being the first.
I was there in 73.

Just glad we don't have the camp at Old River anymore.
