The cat ran in the direction of the explosion. I thought only squirrels did stupid stuff like that.

About a year ago the lightning was bad around my house.
I walked to the front door to look out the window and the loudest boom and flash went off and it sparked in my fireplace.
It must have come down the chimney
It zapped my ac and tv and some electrical outlets
Fortunately my house didn't catch on fire

The tree is in the yard between my parents and my younger sister. Sarah is my niece.

My wife and I were driving through Kentwood about 21 years ago and lightning struck a light pole as we drove past it. Green smoke.

I was sitting in my garage after cutting grass and a bolt hit either in my backyard or my neighbors backyard behind me. I couldn’t directly see it. But the flash/boom was instantaneous. It hit close enough to the cable junction box in the yard to ride the line in my house and fry about $4000 in electronics. I got a nice new big screen and computer out of that renters insurance payment.

The crazy thing is it wasn’t raining. It was just a normal overcast day.

That’s too bad. Nothing better than a good rain right when you get done with the yard.

fireman cat to the rescue

I would have frozen in my tracks. That is my protection mechanism. My caveman ancestors mustve been the hiding type.

When I first saw that video, I couldn't stop watching it. I bet I watched it 20 times. Damn! That was scary.

And the cat immediately rushed to check for any stunned/dead birds.

That cat is brilliant. Knowing lightning doesn't strike the same spot twice, it probably perched up on the stump like "frick all you idiots, i'm the only safe one", then feasted on a roasted bird
