This is a non statement.
Of course they are ‘within their rights’ they always dot the “i”s and Cross their “T”s in legalese.
ETA I know a nurse at Oschner and months before the vaccine was even ready they had already told hospital employees they all were taking it or loosing their jobs.

So are the uninsured, majority of the obese, smokers, drug users, alcoholics.... Are we going to get to a point where we can tailor health insurance costs based on all risk factors, of just those that fit an agenda?
And, while we are at it, can we also charge different prices for those that never go, only go for their annual physical, or consistently seek treatment?
Doesn't the OT argue for this exact thing?

I read this as "More Tranny" at first

Not tyranny. Oschner is not a government entity. Its rules apply to its employees not its citizens.
While I don't agree with these rules, Oschner is within its rights.
Is Oschner not paid anything by the government? Is it pressured by the various state boards or American Doctors Association, APA, ANA and all the other alphabet soups?
Is Oschner some bastion of Corporate Individualism? A shining beacon upon a hill of freedom? Operating without any outside influence from DC, JBE, lobbyists and PHDs?

Because the vaccine is free and takes 2 minutes to get.
That doesn't address hispoint at all, but you knew that.

Spent too much time in that thread last night about the poster that "accidently" swiped the wrong way numerous times

Some do, many more just argue for consistency.

yeah but they're doing it for one specific thing, obviously with downward pressure to circumvent mandates. They are mandating it in a way that washes their hands of it.
If this was truly about health outcomes and what was best for their bottom line they'd be giving incentives based on alcohol usage, smoking, BMI, cholesterol levels, physical grades, etc.
But they aren't. Because this is a government workaround. I have argued many times on this topic that I think being vaccinated is a good idea. But I don't support mandating it this way.

So you're okay with discrimination?

Oschner is probably going to lose some employees from this kind of behavior.
Maybe. Seems like there are only a couple health systems you can work for in the area. And if LCMC and Tulane do the same then you really don’t have any options

Do not fall into this trap. American Healthcare is not a free market. You cannot argue with someone that even begins with this premise.

Lots of folks at the hospital are administrative. They can work in a lot of different sectors.

It's clear that the poster is a moron... just trying to get him to go full retard and admit that he's okay with discrimination

Almost every decent-sized hospital system does give discounts under the wellness program for non-smoking, BMI, good labs etc. Because the ACA limited penalties it increased the wellness discount cap from IIRC 30% to 50% of an individual's premium.

I can agree with this. I'd like some more consistency and I'd like more discounts on my health insurance for being in shape

If only there were a cheap and effective drug regiment that could dramatically reduce the strain on the system.
Or perhaps address the doctors who have been trained by hospital administrators to use patient treatment like an amazon wish list. There are entire industries built around finding and correcting hospital billing errors and overtreatment/overcharging of patients.

Well we used to have that until Obama said we could not.
