Sounds like we need Congress to send us Eleventy Billion in aid for us being disproportionally affected by Climate Change.

$6,354 yearly is the average? Is that accurate? I knew it was bad but not that high.

If you’re in Louisiana, and you’re towards the end of your career and about to retire, why the frick wouldn’t you just move to South Florida? Way more amenities, beautiful beaches, hotter women, and non-corrupt government leadership. Everything you could want.

Not that Louisiana is amazing or anything but this is just idiotic. South Florida sucks if you want to own a decent sized lot and don’t get me started on the housing cost down there or cost of living in general.

Insurance isn’t the end all be all. I’d 100% rather live on some land in Louisiana than in a cookie cutter hut over populated community in S Florida

Pork, black beans and plantains will only seem good for so long.

average rate for home insurers at $6,354 yearly
That doesn't seem real. Just looked mine up. In the worst flood zone , 3500 sqft, $750,000 limit in St. Tammany and its $3,600 annually.

I wouldn't say this out loud or they may figure out your theft

Have you just been with the same insurer forever with their capped rates?

We are not that populated and what population we do have is found along major waterways

State Farm for auto since 1989. Home since 1999. Same agent. Am I getting over, for the first time in my life?

Mine went down as well, but the hurricane deductible went from 2% to 3%.

the numbered of times I've wondered why anyone without modern amenities would live here is countless. Those early settlers were straight savages to stay here. Even with AC and bug spray, going outside on any given day is like being in Jumanji.

That is about right, at least in New Orleans. Couple people I know: 2k sq ft house pays $6,600. Another person with a 3k sq ft house pays $12k (his original quote was $14k). Home owners insurance has tripled just in the last few years.
