This is a big damned deal. BTR is already an easy airport to deal with. Add a couple more "destination"non-stops and you have the best of all worlds regarding both ease and access.

I think it would make more sense for Southwest to fly out of Lafayette than Baton Rouge.

Hope Lafayette follows suit. The nonstop to Denver a few years ago was money.

I'm happy that they are adding the nonstop but wish it wasn't American.

Denver please

I’m surprised BTR doesn’t have this already….SHV has this flight with United.

I’m not joking. I know AA only has 2 jetbridges on their side of the terminal. They have a downstairs gate where you walk out to the plane.

A2 and A3 each have two parking spaces. The jet bridges retract from one to the other.

Delta should move to B concourse. Then let American move to some A gates. Then maybe think about expanding the far end of B concourse with 2 more gates because United is likely to add a ORD and DEN flights soon.

Was on DCA-MSY today. Nice to have options. I love the 175.

I remember AA having 2 DFW and 1 CLT early morning flights not that long ago and doing it with two jetbridges and putting CLT on the hardstand. I imagine they’ll do that again with DFW, CLT, and DCA.

BTR does need to expand/update if they want to continue getting new routes. 6 jetbridges and two baggage carousels don’t make you look important.

For everyone thinking BTR is easy to fly out of, this DCA flight is an additional 76 people in line for everything at the busy time of the morning. 30 minutes may not be enough time to find a parking spot and go through security.

would love to fly into Reagan on the River visual approach one day

I did this Summer. One of the coolest approaches I’ve had.

San Diego is #1 for me but RNA was a very close second

Let's see how much they're going to charge for this flight before assuming it's going to be consistently full.

There was a direct from btr to Chicago ORD in 2011-2012 as I took that flight for work a lot. My old company was out of Chicago so it was a super convenient flight.

If this goes well, it will be answered by United with another nonstop (ORD or DEN is my guess) and maybe even more flights to ATL by Delta.

2 more jet bridges and a new restaurant where that empty “business center” is would be nice. I know they are getting a grant to upgrade 4 of their jet bridges….maybe they move the older ones to a new expansion.

Would it be easier to extend A or B? Looks like they could do either pretty easily if they expand the apron. They can bend a new extended B concourse towards the rental car garage if they needed to.

Don’t think they’ll ever need more luggage carousels.

I've never, ever seen on site parking at BTR completely fill. And for anyone not checking a bag and breezing through with precheck, 30m from car to gate is still very likely to happen.

Not that I personally try to push my luck that much. I generally try to make it to BTR 45m before scheduled takeoff...

IMO Baton Rouge is too close to New Orleans for southwest. Lafayette is a perfect spot for it. Lft to Austin and others would be great!

A couple of times I’ve seen the regular security line backed up all the way to the walkway to the garage and people in line freaking out about missing their flight.

Between the rush of all the early morning flights, and TSA staffing issues it can be a shitshow.
