There is actually enough traffic to support DC runs, IMHO.

Tons of lobbyists in and around the BR area have to fly into DC often and this would cut a leg off the trip.

DC also makes for a good hub change for either international travel or going anywhere along the eastern seaboard if you don’t want to go through Atlanta, as Charlotte isn’t an option from BR yet.

BTR going to have more AM departures than they have jetbridges.

Maybe they can hire another gate attendant.

Damn baw this entire paragraph is wrong. Other than Air Canada there’s no international flights from DCA due to the perimeter rule and there’s been a flight from BR to Charlotte since before US Airways and American merged.

Baton Rouge Metro Airport’s recently launched daily nonstop flights to Washington, D.C, are only about half filled, according to preliminary figures released by the airport.

Made that flight last month. I wouldn't say it was half full, more like 2/3's.
But i would agree that it seems rather dumb to have this flight for American.

Baton Rouge doesn't have a big enough population to justify a direct flight like this. You can get anywhere you want going through Houston/Dallas/ATL/Charlotte, and if you want more direct flights, then go to New Orleans.

I was thinking as i was on the flight, i bet the only reason this direct flight to DC exists is b/c some politicians garnered enough support to tell American to do this, so they did it.

What’s the real utility of more directs out of BTR when the same flight out of MSY costs 1/3 the price?

1/3 the price is bullshite but I’ll pay more for BTR unless I’m traveling internationally because I can leave my house 30 minutes before my flight and stroll in and catch it

The hours are brutal if they're still the same as when it started. Something like departures at 530 in the morning. Arrivals from DC at 10 at night. I would rather have a layover than get up that early or get home that late.

The hours are great if you have a meeting in DC. You can get to a meeting by 9:15 am and get back home same evening. I have already used it twice.

Don’t have much to contribute other than the Newark Airport is the biggest piece of shite I’ve ever been a part of.

This may be true of Delta but there’s little to no difference on American, provided you buy the ticket a 1-2 weeks in advance.

You would need United or SW to get this route. I imagine the gate deals they have with MSY include some exclusivity agreements with MSY for the region.

For those who live in in AP, isn't easier to get to MSY than BTR anyway?
