Moved into a new house years ago and ordered cable. After two months I hadn't received a bill. So I went to their office, notified them I hadn't received a bill and offered to pay. The teller couldn't take my money because I wasn't in the system. She was going to correct that. I went up there every month for the next three months after not getting a bill and received the same answer - they couldn't take a payment because I wasn't in the system. I never went back. I got about 2 yrs of free cable before my idiot neighbor cut the line. They came out to repair it and I finally started getting billed.

You tried.

It’s not your job to go out of your way to fix their mess up. All you need to do is alert them of the mistake and give them the opportunity to fix it. If they don’t want to send someone over to fix it, that’s on them

I don’t feel like going into the store and dealing with their screw up. I’m also not the type to take advantage of a situation like this. What would the OT do?

Keep the dryer. They don't need the money.

Call the store and ask to speak with the manager.

If they come back at you and you tell them you tried to pay, what proof do you have that that happened? Did you get the associate's name when you called? Did she note your account? Anything to prove you tried to make payment?

If so, yeah, you've got a free dryer.

If you have no real proof you can offer that you called to try to pay and were refused, I'd make a call to the store and make sure you get employee name/employee ID#, time, date, etc. if they again tell you not to worry about it.

They'll have the serial# assigned to your order, see it's missing from stock, and they'll figure out it belongs to your cancelled order. Hopefully, they'd just write it off but you never know.

At this point I have seething hatred for major corps and brands. I would relish in ripping them off.

Man I’d take the free dryer. You did what you could.

A similar situation happened to me. I ordered $13k of flooring from Home Depot. At the end of installation I had a few extra cases left. Brought it back to return, value a few hundred bucks, and for some reason they refunded the whole order.

Had to tell them multiple times that the amount wasn’t correct, they could not figure it out. I was at Home Depot for 3 hours convincing them to not give me $13,000. Wanted to walk out so bad but all I could think about was that CSR getting fired at the end of the month.

This is the correct answer.

Years ago, a drive thru bank teller told me that he never made mistakes after he gave me an extra $100 (in twenties) So I said okay, I guess you are right and then drove off.

Something similar happened when I bought some living room furniture. We were moving into our current house and I ordered a new couch and loveseat for our den. Ordered a loveseat and some other stuff for a bonus room upstairs. We moved in a few weeks later and after some measuring I realized the loveseat wasn’t going to make it up the 90 degree turn on the stairs. I called Ashley to cancel just part of the order. They did so and we’re going to issue me a credit in something like 3 business days. The rest of it was delivered. I look at my account and I have two credits for the same amount. Waited a few days since they were still pending. Both cleared. I call them up and tell them I was credited twice and was wanting to pay for the stuff that was delivered. After a while on the phone they were going to charge my card. A week goes by and nothing. The original credits were still there. I call again, go through the same story again, and after another 10 days or so I still wasn’t charged. I tried twice and just enjoyed my free furniture.

Wait a while and then make a donation for that amount to a local soup kitchen food pantry or to St. Jude’s.

Bad Karma
Is killing me by degrees

-Warren Zevon

He had bad karma after he had the world by the short hairs and he checked out early and painfully.

No dryer cost amount or trouble would keep me from squaring up with them (Best Buy).

This gets 37 downvotes. Ironic.

If the Progressives and the Leftists want to run with free rides and something for nothing we Conservative Patriots can play that game too.
Our justifications sound and look better and we don’t trash things and burn places down.

I say OP should go for it. Screw the corporate oppressor and their ignorantly indifferent customer service wage slave minions. The corporation can afford it. Enjoy the new dryer.

If they want you to do anything special or go out of your way then screw them. Just forget it happened and move on.

Their system will eventually figure it out and you'll get charged for it.

Trying to prevent some future bad karma, I got online with customer support and told them what happened. I said I’d like to pay you for the dryer. She told me that in order for me to pay, I’d have to go into the store and talk to the manager. I told her I’m out of town and don’t have a lot of time, which is why I did an online order and curbside pickup. I said “just take my money”. She said “sorry there is nothing I can do. You would have to go into the store.

Nah man. At this point I'd be done trying.
