I ordered a new dryer from Best Buy online. Did the curbside pickup, brought it home and installed it. All is good.

Today I get an email from Best Buy saying that they cancelled the order bc I never picked it up. They refunded my money already.

He already called. It is not moral or the "right" thing to have to jump through hoops to pay for an item. He made the call, it's now on the company to take the payment or forward that info over to someone who can. It's not on him to do any more, and it has nothing to do with being immoral or trying to one up them if he does nothing more.

Pay for the damn thing. If they discover the mistake, they’ll likely write it off. Then again, they may come for your arse.

You tried to do the right thing. If Best Buy really wanted your money they would charge you.

At least you're not taking the dryer back for a refund.

Yeah but when the phone call comes it doesn't matter that he did the right thing he has to have proof that he attempted to do the right thing and even then he still gonna owe the money

What part are you missing? He tried. He absolutely should not be expected to go out of his way in this situation.

He made a good faith effort, he's clear at this point. The person he spoke with, the onus is now on that person he spoke with to forward his info to the correct person who can call him back to take payment.

This happened to me on a lawnmower from Sears about a decade ago. Went to the Sears here in Hammond (RIP) and wanted a Craftsman push mower. Checked their online price and it was $100 cheaper than the store. Went to the counter and told the sales person, guy says they can’t price match online pricing. Explained that this was their website and that’s insane, but the guy persists. Manager comes over and says I have to place the order in the kiosk to get the price. They go back in the back and check it to make sure it’s in stock. I place the order and then tell the guy to go get my mower.

Guy then tells me I have to wait for the email telling me my order is ready. Oops, it’s to close to closing, so I’ll have to come back tomorrow to pick it up. Get manager again, tells me the same. Ask if I cancel this and buy it outright, you’ll go pull it from the back right now, correct? Do you see my dilemma? After ten mins of arguing, finally get my mower.

Fast forward ten days later, get a credit on my account from Sears. Email received that says since I didn’t pick up my mower they were crediting my account.

I didn’t say shite. There’s a reason Sears is out of business now. Any company that won’t price match their own online pricing in store deserves to cease to exist.

Wallyworld did the same thing to me for a mattress I got. Cancelled it and got my money back and a week later it shows up on my doorstep.

I called them and said I received a cancelled order and they said they’d have a delivery driver contact me. Two weeks later I still haven’t received a call.

I’m gonna sell it for the juice it costs me to buy it bc they wouldn’t let me cancel it for over a month. Da fuq.

Not as much value as yours, but I ordered something from best buy that got lost in the mail. I got with customer support and they arranged for an in store pickup of the same item. I get there and it's not there, but the manager jumped through hoops to make sure I got it. I called corporate to compliment the manager.

Two weeks later the item that was lost in the mail showed up at my door. I only got charged for one, but ended up with two. I called corporate again and they said keep it. Cool.

Another two weeks later, I got a $100 gift card in the mail for calling corporate to brag on the manager.

So moral of the story is to call corporate and brag on a manager and you get a free gift card.

Just give the money to me and I’ll take care of it for you. I’ll be the intercessor between you and the Best Buy overlords

Your attempt to fix their error was sufficient. I'd maybe consider going through the trouble if it was a mom and pop store, but best buy will be fine. Sleep easy.

You made an honest effort and that’s enough as far as I’m concerned. If their processes are bad enough that you have to go out of your way to help them with their screwup, that’s on them.

Do you have paperwork that shows you paid for and picked it up? Someone signed off on that when you picked it up, or they printed a ticket and had you sign that. One way or another, I am sure you are covered and they will eat the loss. Worst case, just call the store directly and talk to a manager.

Call the manager and talk to him. Keep a record of when you called and who you talked to. (Note the first call you told us about, even if you didn't get the customer rep's name.)
Keep the names and dates with your paperwork.

If you are a company shareholder, you might want to search out the real powers that are.

You tried. That's more than most. Not sure I'd go out of my way to go up there. Just go with your gut.

Honest answer. Tell them, likely the manager just doesn't want to deal with any other paperwork.

I had a similar type issue on a cruise. We had originally booked under a free gratuity fare, but got a lower fare, and gave up the free gratuity. I noticed it wasn't being charged a few days into the cruise, so I went to the services desk and told them, and they insisted that is was correct. I told them it wasn't, and they told me not to worry about it, it was more of a headache to try to change that just let it go. But I did try.

consider it a gift, they dont lose any money because they right that shite off on taxes just like all the ones that fall off the back of the truck at relative houses of the delivery guys
