My dude… it’s okay that people think Monroe is better than Alexandria. There’s good people in both cities though

Ruston has always had much stricter alcohol regs than Monroe so it must have an even stronger Baptist influence.

Yea the delta towns are way more Methodist/with some Episcopalian/Catholic influences

Alex and all the piney wood towns way more Baptist/non- denominational

Ruston is the worst place in LA. Such a close-minded, hostile place from my short times I've been in that place

You're thinking of the papermill up in Springhill. That was some serious stench coming from there to Shreveport on fall evenings during a passing cold front

Somewhat true, but I saw some good shows at Rabb's back in the day. Willie, Dwight, Cross Canadian Ragweed, REK...Great steak, too.

RIP Rabb's in Ruston

Had a crew of friends in Alec back in the day and we had some relatively epic times there, combo of the small town party in a field vibe and/or then bar hopping the rando arse bars.

Monroe is a Super shite Hole because of Jamie Mayo. Alexandria isn't quite as bad, but it is weird.

None of my responses were to that assertion.

Perhaps you need to research Ruston's liquor laws.

It is illegal to sell or serve alcohol from Midnight to 6 AM Monday – Saturday and from Midnight on Saturday – 6 AM Monday.

Nothing like that pile in a vehicle midnight drive down I-20 to “keep going till 2.”

For most of his reign Jamie Mayo was a pretty good to very good mayor. He eventually succumbed to the ego and arrogance of the longtime incumbent but look right down the road at Jackson, MS. Monroe is a flawed city but it ain't Jackson.

I'm gonna have to agree to disagree. I don't place everything on the shoulders of JM, but it's hard to look at all of the resources and locally born businesses that Monroe + surrounding had available to it (first Coke bottling, Delta Airlines, CenturyLumenLink, Skyjacker, StateFarm center, Chennault war resources, etc) and not seem like it was a 20 year spoiling of momentum. Downtown all but died under Mayo. The civic center went from hosting Garth Brooks, Reba, Prince, Bon Jovi, Rush level concerts to being a parking lot for a two week gypsy fair.

That said - Alec makes Monroe look like the shining jewel queen of hwy 165

Experience: all 30+ years of my life

The loss of every major employer, collapse of downtown and sky rocketing crime rate says otherwise. Some of that may not have been entirely his fault, but it happened on his watch.
