Yes. Monroe itself is just another dump LA city. Like a larger Alexandria.

Rural N LA is pretty nice. Especially if you go east of Monroe towards Ruston & Claiborne parish

I'd still take it over BR

Having a "choice" to move to Monroe is so damn depressing. Always thought that was a place you just got sent to, like as a punishment.

Example: A sales person who can't be outright fired (ya know what I mean) but never meets any goals or quotas, so they send them to Monroe in hopes that they quit instead.

First off West Monroe, never ever Monroe
Secondly, do you really want to live in the bible belt? With no good food, no culture, going to high school football games because it is the cool thing to do? If so West Monroe is the place for you.
Otherwise go to BR.

I went there because ULM gave me a ton of assitantship/scholarship money and I got my masters degree for a profit...I still feel like it was the wrong choice sometimes

BR is in the Bible Belt. Not sure what you’re talking about.

you guys are really sensitive about your Funroe weather.

Let me reiterate. Haven't been to Monroe in a long arse time. Wouldn't ever really spend a lot of time there, but just judging by geography....one can assume it be a slightly cooler and less humid climate. but by all means, nitpick my response to death, even tho i just recommended your city over my home town.

If you take LSU out of Br, you have a larger version of Monroe.

They’re all the same at the end of the day. There’s a handful of decent restaurants, a few bars, close to outdoor things. It’s just what you personally prefer.

Not everyone gives a shite about French culture. By your definition of culture. The entire Deep South has NO culture either then.

Monroe has a synagogue. Its more cosmopolitan than it gets credit for.

How about this, nothing that makes it stand out from anywhere else in America.

You know that pretty much everywhere within a one hundred mile radius of South LA has a little French influence?

List a few of the “culture” aspects you’re referring to. I want to know.

There's even a Mosque. So if eating bad food and hanging out at footballs games isn't your thing you can always go learn to make a pipe bomb.

How about this as someone who has lived in both places, I could have set land speed records trying to get back to south LA. Give me french, give me better food, give me more of a sense of community, give me a place with more things to do for a family or single person. Give me a group of people that like to have fun and isn't worried about what their church neighbors are saying about them.
And if you think as far as restaurants or nightlife or family activities they are about even then you need to head back down to south LA.

Besides drinking and going to bars, what else is there to do in Baton Rouge?

lets see,
a great university that is always spinning off stuff to do.
a ton of history waiting to be found
several really good museums that don't get their fair shake
Tons of festivals and events
a downtown on the rise
Government street
lakes far prettier to walk and ride around than anything in Monroe in the middle of the city.
Better parks and golf courses locally
Fishing and hunting are on par with south la being more expensive for good hunting land
Cajun culture to explore
But seriously what does Monroe have to offer that is so special?
And I will rest my case with that i have never heard a song called Callin' Monroe
