I’m not arguing against Baton Rouge being better than Monroe. I’m simply stating for a city this size there really isn’t much to offer besides drinking and 6 football Saturdays a year.

exactly..most of the pro BR arguments are based on the fact that its close enough to other things to leave it

Honestly, your list could easily be Monroe and the surrounding area

What is meant by a better sense of community in Baton Rouge?

You just don’t like Monroe because you grew up there. It’s normal to not want to live in your hometown forever. But saying BR is head and shoulders better than Monroe is crazy. It’s the same damn thing except LSU.

It’s not that bad. Not saying BR is either though. It’s just personal preference. There’s no right or wrong

Well we can argue forever but as someone from neither place that has lived both places as an adult, It is clear to me that one is far superior. Now granted I’m more of a fisherman than a hunter and I do enjoy some of the finer things in life and it is much easier to get those things in Baton Rouge than in Monroe.

a great university that is always spinning off stuff to do.

Basically stuff for a college student or LSU football

a ton of history waiting to be found

I guess

several really good museums that don't get their fair shake

Let’s go to the Arts and Science museum!! Or the USS Kidd for the 800th time

Tons of festivals and events

Drinking

a downtown on the rise

Drinking

Government street

So food, overpriced shopping, and drinking

lakes far prettier to walk and ride around than anything in Monroe in the middle of the city.

I’ll give this to you but it is still just LSU

Better parks and golf courses locally

True but there are only so many times I can walk around Highland road park’s 2/3 mile track

Fishing and hunting are on par with south la being more expensive for good hunting land

Not near Baton Rouge

Cajun culture to explore

Sure there is

But seriously what does Monroe have to offer that is so special?
And I will rest my case with that i have never heard a song called Callin' Monroe

Once again not arguing that Baton Rouge is better than Monroe I have family that live in both and you couldn’t pay me to live in Monroe. Point is Baton Rouge has drinking and LSU to offer and that’s it.

There were some big strides with Kip Holden at the helm, but everything he did seems to be slowly sliding away (downtown being the biggest).

Hate to toot BRs horn, but BR has more music) rock, blues, classical, hip hop, RnB, jazz)
Brec parks
library
clubs for adults like running, book, sports, charity, beer, gaming
much more ethnic food

You take Monroe, have fun bud I doubt we would ever hang out. But i don’t know why music and fun has to involve drinking, bunch of my family are not big drinkers and they are at every event having fun.
Btw the knock knock children’s musem is legit.

Have you lived in both as an adult? Simple question. Or are you speaking just out of what you hear?

Lived in Baton Rouge and spent time in Monroe but didn’t live there. Who says you have to live in both to have an opinion on which you prefer?

Well common sense, would you say you perfer Baton Rouge to Oklahoma City? I mean I couldn’t make a fair comparison, because I have never lived in OKC. Just at the end of the day Baton Rouge has more people I agree with than Funroe.

No. Oklahoma City it’s way nicer. Besides the annoying OU fans, it’s an awesome place to live.

Baton Rouge isn’t better than very many places.
