quote:THIS. Our kids are 27, 19 & 17 and we’ve still never told them Santa doesn’t exist just as our parents didn’t with us. Obviously they know, as do we clearly, but it keeps a bit of magic in the season still. It’s also why it’s such a great time of year for all of our families. They get gifts on Christmas Day from “Santa” still to this day. No one’s dysfunctional because of it. Our oldest has a criminal justice degree, middle child is a college football player and youngest just got pretty much a full ride to college for academics.
Santa is still gonna come to our house even if the kids know. It’s a wink and a smile and one day they’ll get to play the role as well. Just have fun with it. Days are gone all too soon

Once the magic of Christmas is gone, it's gone forever. As Journey says, "Don't stop believing..."

Her son is 10 yrs old and not, to my knowledge, in special ed. Shouldn't this elf shite end about 7 or 8?
Why the frick are some people so damn miserable.
Let the kids be kids as long as you can. They grow up way too fast already.
What does it hurt for the kid to enjoy the innocence of being a kid?
Why does it offend you so much? Did a dirty Santa touch you as a child? Wtf??

What I’d do to have that feeling just one more time. I so miss the butterflies in the stomach and the anticipation of what Santa was bringing.

My 9 almost 10 yr old daughter still does. She came in today and was worried because Sparky hadn’t moved in two days ( he was probably drunk on bourbon). We have an alarm set now. Ha

Met a female cop at my sister's house under less than ideal circumstances one December. In the course of our discussion, she noticed an Elf On The Shelf for my nephews, who were about 4 and 6. She mentioned she had two sons close to the same age who were kind of rambunctious. She said she didn't take the Elf down the previous Christmas and had the Elf "watching" all year long to try to modify their behavior. She said they still werent well behaved, but the Elf helped.
It added some levity to an otherwise grim evening.

My coworker forgot to move the elf one night and had him writing a letter that explained when they said the word “hate” it zaps his magic.

I get what y'all are saying, but she moves the thing every night and has him doing something "cute". Tonight the elf will be inside a cut out cereal box stealing the kids cheerios. She asked for suggestions on her FB for things to do a few weeks ago. Seems like a lot of work for a kid who should know a stuffed elf isn't real. I could see having him on the mantle as decoration.
Guess I shouldn't be surprised. This preteen sleeps in his parent's room every night on his own inflatable mattress next to their bed. Pansy arse generation
