I don't see how this is arrest worthy.
I think we need pics of mom to determine this

But it’s not a crime to teach your 4 year old to twerk on a stripper pole

But walking half a mile
Too far

I live in a suburb of Houston, and my 10 and 7 year olds walk a half mile to school every day. The 7 year old stays after school and plays/explores with other kids and then walks home around 5ish. There is a large Asian American population where I live, and most parents are foreign born. They let their kids walk to school alone pretty much starting in kindergarten. Most of the kids my son roams with are Asian American. Too many of us have become unnecessarily fearful. If you live in a safe neighborhood, there is no reason your kid can’t roam around. My kids know my phone number and know to ask a stranger to use a cell phone to call me if they get lost, which they haven’t had to do yet. We are screwing up our kids, and we sure as hell don’t need the government harassing parents who are letting their kids be kids.

There was an orphanage in the Dallas area that I’ve heard stories about. It supposedly closed just a few decades ago and when kids wouldn’t behave, parents would drop them off in front of the orphanage and drive around the block. Lesson was usually learned.

When I was 8, I'd walk more than a half mile to the neighborhood store with my buddies with empty bottles to trade in for candy or gum.

Next time there's a thread in which I say that we've over-criminalized society to the point that every single one of you motherfrickers has committed a felony in your lifetime, and probably do so on a routine basis, and you blow a fricking gasket?
I'ma remind y'all of this shite

A woman one block away had called the cops to report a boy walking outside alone. That lady had actually asked Aiden where he lived, verified that it was just down the street, and proceeded to call nonetheless. The cops picked up Aiden on his own block.
WTF? How does calling the police even cross her mind? And what did the mom do wrong? How is what she did endangering a child?
What if the 8 year old stayed in the car and then injured his two brothers? She could have put the others in danger by not letting him walk it off.
Is it not normal to see a kid walking on a sidewalk in a neighborhood?

And I take it these charges were declinedby prosecution...?
And the officer reprimanded?

In the summer at 8 years old I would leave after cartoons were over on my bike with friends and would not come home until dark. I am pretty sure I covered several miles a day in the summer and weekends during the winter.
ETA: Nowadays it's ok to have a library tranny teach your boy to tuck & twerk and chemically castrate them at 6.

Back in my day We had to walk 1/2 mile just to get to the school bus stop because the school wouldn't let the bus go down our road...

Wow I threw two interceptions in my high school game and my dad made me walk home so I can think about my bad game.

I mean a half mile is what? A few blocks?
In my neighborhood, it's about 1/4 of a mile around the block. So, 2 blocks seems pretty normal for a kid that age. I was not much older when I was walking further, across a busy street, to get to the comic book shop in the nearest aging shopping center.

From the article:
This is one reason I hate some state's versions of PTI it leaves the arrest on the book and every time you interact with law enforcement (like a speeding ticket) they can see the arrest and it is impossible to say it doesn't color their view of you, plus of course the employment issues which can be much more intrusive.
I think I have told the story here before but many years ago I had a CEO of one of my corporate clients come to me because his son had just finished college and he couldn't get a job. The problem was he was arrested while at the University of Delaware and the charge was "unwanted touching". The charges were dropped but the arrest remained. While it sounds like some sort of pedo/sexual harassment charge it is merely their lowest level of battery. According to the police report he brushed past someone trying to leave an altercation. It is rarely charged by itself usually being an add on. Would you hire someone that you knew had been arrested for "unwanted touching"? If the disposition of a case involves expungement the arrest should go with it.
