And how is putting this woman in prison going to be a net positive for her children?
Unless she has a slew of priors, she's not gonna do a day. Just a click bait headline using the max penalty for the offense to generate faux outrage.

So what are the rules on ages and leaving kids at home?
It depends on the state.

From the story
quote:
He cites a Georgia Supreme Court ruling in 1997 that ruled that charging a mom for a normal parenting decision is unconstitutional. In that case, Hall v. State, a mom left her 11-year-old babysitting her younger sibling who died in a tragic accident.
The court ruled at the time that the state's reckless conduct statute is susceptible to 'arbitrary enforcement,' with the majority ruling that the state failed to 'contend that the [reckless conduct statute] is violated by the many parents who on a daily basis, often due to necessity, leave an older child to care for their younger siblings while the parents work or attend to other business.'

14 y.o. is fine babysitting, sure. Not when the kid is doing online classes/other activity herself. 4 younger kids need fully attentive supervision. That is bad parental decision making.
The prison time thing is absurd.

I got paid to babysit kids when I was 14
If it's a crime, this will really help my street cred

Damn Karen.

I was going to the local swimming pool two blocks from my house at four years old—all day every day. It was the town babysitter.

14 and babysitting is fine. 4 kids and online learning seems she was stretched thin though.

Henderson said her daughter has been diagnosed with ADHD, but had a GPA of 4.45, was vice president of the 4-H Club, broke school records in varsity track, completed the Red Cross Childcare Program and is certified in CPR

This is the problem here. frick that bitch. What is she doing calling the police instead of the kid's mom?

Yea, that lady is apiece of shite. Maybe offer to help your child's friend instead of calling the fricking cops.

This is bullshite. I know I had friends in middle school that were 13/14 that had babysitting jobs for other people's kids. And we pretty much all were left in charge of/left in the care of younger siblings/older siblings at that age.

She probably fricked her husband at some point.

1. Cops are heroes!
2. Where's dad?
3. A 14 year old can't babysit in Georgia?
4. Welcome to CPS hell for the rest of your natural life.

You do what you have to do

The gofundme has raised over 26k. And although she has 4 younger siblings...2 of them look pretty capable of taking care of themselves for most things whereas 2 might have to be watched more closely.
