What is this?

Why can’t I just get drunk on the Neutral Ground and watch the parade?

You’re in the wrong city.
But you CAN get great apple jam in a jar in Mobile!

Because the parade doesn’t roll on water. But it’s convenient to park there. You can get drunk there if you want. People do that I guess. Just trying to help you out.

Cool. We made it better, though. Who the hell wants to party in Mobile.

They sound big mad.

They started last week. They start again Thursday. If you go get there early and park on the median in water street. Go get drunk at a bar and watch the parade on Royal near Dauphin street. Or wait til later and go watch it down by Moes BBQ and the Bike Shop.

You can drink on the street in downtown Mobile so I always bring a portable ice chest and sling it over my shoulder. In my opinion there's no better place to watch the parades in Mobile than right in front of the bar, "The Garage." It gets rowdy on that corner and it's at the very end of the route so all the floats unload there. I've had way too many mardi gras friday/saturday nights there that I barely remember but wouldn't do it any other way! I've had a ton of fun in NOLA during mardi gras too...they're both a good time in their own ways.

I assume you are not from Louisiana and never took Louisiana history. It did start in Mobile...

My metephor is that it's like they wanted champagne but couldn't afford it so they ripped the labels off of sparkling grape juice and pretend to be drunk all night. Everyone knows that they are faking it but we let them do it because it really doesn't matter.

You realize the Old New Orleans societies are just like this too, in terms of their balls?

Nah.

While I have my problems with NOLA. I will still pick NOLA over any city when it comes to Mardi Gras. I've been to Mobile for Mardi Gras. shite's weak, yo.

This thread was more entertaining when it was just LNCHBOX and lsupride87 bitching at each other like teenage girls.

Mobile Mardj Gras is for kids. The most prized throws are candy and moon pies. They don't even bother picking ups beads or doubloons. It is like Halloween, very family-friendly.

So sorry to offend you and your big party, Opie. Please promise you’ll stay in Mobile for MG. I’ve already promised to stay in NO.

But the real question is how stringent Mobile is about pissing in public?

So the families who own the multimillion dollar, historic mansions on St Charles Avenue and Audubon Place are secretly poor wannabes? Very interesting.

those poor people have an identity crisis... their claims for existence are a holiday synonymous with a city in Louisiana and a song written by a band from Florida.
