Mobile was in French Louisiana, not Alabama, at the time of the first Mardi Gras.

Houston and Galveston also have a “Mardi Gras”. But no one considers them nor Mobile actual Mardi Gras. Let them have their crowning achievement if they so desperately want it

The thing is no one here gives a frick. We think the whole had it first thing is dumb. But the city seems desperate to bring in more people from out of town for Mardi Gras. Personally I’d rather them not.
