Republic of West Florida, capitol was St. Francisville and it lasted less than 90 days.

For some odd reason LA makes a big deal out of it.

While true, I imagine it would be news to most people in Louisiana that there is a chunk of the state that wasn’t included in the Louisiana Purchase. Very interesting little subset of history for (what would become) the state before, during, and after the revolutionary war.

There was a map a while back on the internet which grouped regions of the US into new states. It had "Atchafalaya" running from Lafayette to Destin on the Gulf Coast as the regional state. I like that idea.

(Can't find the map on Google)

Louisianans actually wanting Mobile and the Gulf Coast?

I've lived all over the New Orleans area and I find Biloxi much more entertaining and enjoyable than New Orleans. You pretty much have to be some kind of itinerant garbage sculptor or whatever to get laid in Orleans Parish. Gulfport / Biloxi has a much more blue-collar feel.

No. It seems Mobile is trying to do something to fix their traffic issues.

That disqualifies It as potentially Louisiana.

Mobile, AL is the worst city, if you can call it that, I've ever visited. And I include Baldwin County in that assessment.

The Grand Hotel is a joke of a resort. Essentially a Holiday Inn on a setting equivalent to the shore of Lake Pontchartrain with daily cannon firings, free bike rentals (if you call that 15% resort fee on a $500 nightly room rate free), and terrible Alabama styled seafood at their inhouse restaurants.

All this coming from the same dufus who said New Orleans has a better St. Patrick's Day than Chicago.

You fancy yourself a sorta low rent John Kennedy Toole and it's obvious Mobile threatens this chronic New Orleans fetish of yours. You attack Mobile every time the subject arises. I mean I'm cool with it and all but it's obvious you've got some hang ups when in comes to Lower Alabama.

Well I've lived in both cities and Mobile really is nothing more than a smaller, cleaner, more conservative version of New Orleans. A version that's also one hour away from white sanded gulf beaches. This is probably what threatens your sensibilities so much. Mobile has Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. What does New Orleans have? Your memories of a fairly shitty Lake Pontchartrain.

In some ways, Mobile does New Orleans better than New Orleans does New Orleans.

I mean Christ, by any standard New Orleans is a pile 'a shite. By the Mobile standard, New Orleans is an underdeveloped, 3rd World country.

Yeah grand hotel is a very nice resort in a very nice area. Correct though no beach really and bay water is dirty but might have the best sunsets around. If you want beach and swimming water go to orange beach to Panama City area

I don't think he's trolling though. TulaneLsu is one of those people (kinda like born and raised New Yorkers) who believes the city he lives in is the greatest and every other city or region is shite.

He has this sorta contrived Ignatius Reilly thing going on. He does a good job with it.

After the Boogaloo I vote to seize these territories in the name of Imperial Louisiana, as well as all the lands lost to Midwest heathens after Jefferson's Purchase.

And FL Panhandle from the Chattahooche River west should be Alabama. Is that part of the equation also?

And Biloxi is a really good fit with the trashiness of Coastal Louisiana.

Aside from some of the historical similarities between Mobile and New Orleans, culturally Mobile is more akin to Northwest Florida.

Plus it's cheaper to live in, better schools, less crime, less corruption.

Honestly, I could see LA extending into and past Pensacola, possibly all the way to Destin.

There's a lot of the Who Dat Nation in Northwest Florida.

Realistically, I would say Mobile Bay, Perdido Bay, or Pensacola Bay would make a good border.

The northern border of Florida is almost exactly on the same parallel (looking at a map) as is the MS/LA border in the Florida parishes. So just connect those two lines to figure out what parts of MS/AL to include.

Then, take that same line, and extend it westward from the MS rive to Texas. Everything north of that line is kicked out of LA. Give half to MS and half to Texas. Or give it all to Ar-Kansas.
