This is the 2nd Christmas without my mom, 7th without my dad. I have a great support system with the rest of my family and friends, but it’s just not the same.

You folks fortunate enough to spend tomorrow with your parents, indulge their corny attempts to amke memories. I’d give anything g for my mom to be here tomorrow dragging me to church, making us all wear matching pajamas, quoting A Christmas Story for the 1,000th time, and any of her other idiosyncrasies they made her my mom. And I’ll miss my dad sitting in the corner, sighing at mom’s corniness, while he slugs his Old Foreseter and chides is to humor mom. These moments are fleeting and I didn’t fully appreciate them until they are gone.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Yessir enjoy what you have.

I live in the four Christmases movie. Wife's parents are divorced and remarried so that's interesting.

New this year, my mom up and left my dad after 36 years of marriage to be with another guy. Stole money, basically left my dad and her kids out to dry. It was a bit somber tonight having just my dad, and damn he's a bit lost, rightfully so.

Hug what you have close and Merry Christmas.

My dad passed last Dec 26. Was able to spend Thanksgiving with mom and sis but I’m in remote Alaska and won’t be going home. Got a little snow today so I’m going to spend tomorrow hiking up to a lake about 3 miles away and exploring.

Enjoy time with your family folks.

Cheers brother

I thought about my old man a lot tonight. He would have been happier than a pig in shite with the chaos his 13 grandkids produced tonight.

Miss him dearly and recalled our first “Santa” display for my oldest. We were drinking scotch and setting it up. Sadly, it was our last but fortunate to have one with such a fine man.

I feel you my parents just filed for divorce after nearly 40 years. My dad is 71 and he’s become unbearable, personally think it’s all the meds he’s taking but mom couldn’t take it anymore, weird for me spending Christmas apart from everyone this year....i year these older divorces are becoming more common

Same. It's tough. When I was 8 or so we stopped seeing eye to eye and our relationship never really recovered. We didn't get along most of the time, but it was understood we were all we really had.

I didn't realize what it was going to be like when she was gone.

I can't explain how I knew, but I always knew my kids would have to call her sister Maw Maw. And it eats at me knowing they will.

Good luck to you, and Merry Christmas.

So the older parents get it hurts less when they die? Thinking your parents should have aborted.
97 in June, miss her every day.
Happy holidays guy and girls, be safe.

Absolutely more common, social media strikes another negative again.

Her loss, my wife is pregnant with the first boy grandchild of 5. She will never meet him after the things she done.

My mom nd I were very close. Last Christmas was a bit of a blur, but her absence this year hit me like a ton of bricks tonight, and came out of nowhere.

On Valentine’s Day, it will be 17 years since my dad passed. I still think of him daily and miss him even more during the holidays. It’s crazy to think how one moment he was here and then gone in a heartbeat. I think of all the things I would’ve loved to share with him.

This will be Mrs Completely’s first Christmas without her mom.

Everyone should hug your loved ones and be extra good to them all the time. Faster than you can blink, you or they won’t be here anymore.

Hang in there, Spleen.

Yeah, frick you man. I don’t give a shite if your parents die at 40 or 100, it still hurts. Preparing yourself for that eventual loss is different but it still sucks. The holidays bring back memories of all the years your spent with them.

Checks out.

OP, you'll never fully heal, I think it's supposed to be that way so you remember. It does get easier as time goes by.

Merry Christmas.

This my first Christmas without my dad. He passed in January. It’s been a really tough year and I was doing my best this holiday season to not break down and cry thinking about him. Well Sunday we went to my Mom’s to exchange gifts and my mom made blankets for me and my siblings out of my Dad’s old clothes. When I got back home, I thought about my mom and how hard that had to be for her to do that. She still hasn’t moved the last set of clothes that he wore. It’s right where he left them. That night I cried so hard and cried myself to sleep. Everyone out there, enjoy the your parents for as long as you have them.
