Merry Christmas to all of you. Life is short no matter how long we or our loved ones live. Our hope is in Jesus Christ and in him alone. Tell your family and your friends you love them and then prove it with your actions while you still have the opportunity. My heart goes out to all of you who have lost loved ones recently and especially to Redstick. May God give you comfort during these holidays. My grandmother passed away 15 years ago and I still miss her. Going to her house during the holidays is as close to heaven as I have ever been here on earth. When you were in grandma’s house, you knew you were loved unconditionally and without end.
For those who have family members who are estranged for whatever reason, I hope you find a way to get back together. I have been through that too.
Love God with all your heart, soul and mind. And, Love your neighbor as yourself.

My mom died in 1976 when I was 13. So long ago but I miss her terribly every day.
Dad died in 2004. I feel lost without them. They were not perfect but I know they loved me.
I know how you feel.
You're not alone in this!

My wife lost her mom the week before thanksgiving this year. The hardest thing as a husband is to see her hurt and not be able to take away the pain.
Today will be hard as her mom loved Christmas.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

This is my first Christmas without my M-I-L (no pics) after 35 years of marriage.

Obviously tough on Mrs Füt.

I’m being very engaged and considerate and I’m glad Christmas comes but once a year.

:Merry Christmas to you all!

cheers:

You'll cry. Trust me. You'll hear a song lyric or a thought will pop in to your head while youre driving and you'll lose it. Been almost 2 years for me and it still happens occasionally.

I remember the week my dad passed. It was a monday morning and I stopped to get gas on the way to work. My car wouldnt start when I tried to leave the gas station and without thinking pulled my phone out and started to call my dad to come give me a ride back to the house in case I couldn't get it started. Thats a hard habit it break, knowing that the person you've relied on for help your entire life isnt there anymore. He passed away that Thursday, 3/8/18.

Thank you for this post. My car didn’t break down, but I get the same feeling all the time about my Dad. I want to text or call him all the time about whatever to get his thoughts. He passed away the day before on 3/7/18 at exactly 59.5. frick cancer.

Merry Christmas to you/ Mom has been gone 3 years Dad over 30. While not physically present, they are still with you. Their Christmas is more glorious than we can imagine.

I’m so sorry, Spleen. I’ve been blessed to still have both of my parents but this will be my 10th Christmas without my little brother. It can still be really heartbreaking at times but I’ve become more appreciative of the time I had with him. Sending love and light your way (and to all those here missing someone today). Merry Christmas.

I feel for you and all who are missing loved ones over Christmas and the Holidays.

I remember being a 9 year old kid in 4th grade on December 24, 1960 and my Dad driving me to church as I was one of the altar boys serving midnight Mass. It was the first time I remember hearing "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas". The line, "Through the years we all will be together, if the Fates allow. . ." It made me very sad as I thought about losing my grandparents. Now, 59 years later I still feel that pit in my stomach when I hear that line in the song.

My Dad passed in 2003 but my Mom turned 93 last Thursday. All of my siblings were with her on Saturday. The hardest, though, is losing a young person. My brother's oldest was killed in a small plane crash in 2002 shortly after he graduated college. I am the oldest of my siblings and he was the oldest of his siblings and the oldest grandchild. We had a special bond. I still miss him very much. He would have been 41 this March.

My hope is that we all may find comfort in the happy memories of those we have loved and lost.

Merry Christmas,, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Holidays to all.

Know what you mean. Holidays can be brutal when you sit and reflect on happy memories with family members that have passed on. I try to find comfort in believing that we will all be together again someday in a much better place. I pray that you find that inner peace. Merry Christmas.

Wishing you strength Spleen. I know it’s a tough time for you

This was our first Xmas without my Dad as well. We weren’t sure what to expect but things worked out great. Keep your head up and know they are looking down on you with a smile

Right there with you. Dad died in March and my father in law died Sunday. This Christmas sort of sucks.

we all have loved ones that have gone on...

that is why you keep the family traditions going for the rest of the family...
make new memories in their memory...if that makes sense...

Second Christmas without my mom, as well. I think this one’s worse. The only decorating I did was the tree, and that wasn’t until Saturday. So many of my ornaments and decorations came from my mama & the thought of putting them out was too daunting. Kids are grown & we live 12 hours away, so I wasn’t under any pressure.
Hoping next year is better.

Same here. My mom died 2 years ago from cancer. She was 57. Holidays aren't the same and my dad is still grieving and sad. Breaks my heart. Cherish the time with your family.

I feel the same way. Might have something to with me being back home in Michigan this year where I grew up. Felt like I got punched in the stomach last night when I found our stockings. Of course I put Dad's out. I do feel his presence today, it's only 10:37 and it has already been a day of mixed emotions.

This just might be one of the most heart-warming threads I have ever read on here. I was in tears the entire time reading everyone's posts about their loved ones. Thanks for sharing everyone.

This will be my 6th Christmas without my dad. It's still not easy. My has it the worst, if she had it her way she would not celebrate Christmas at all and just lie in bed all day. My brother and I would never allow that. Thank God for all the grandkids. They bring my mom so much joy and happiness.
As for me, I like to remember my dad by becoming him in ways. All his corniness, lame jokes, insiting on watching bad movies, I do those. Acting like Santa exists even to all the other adults, I do it. Making breakfast burritos every Christmas. I also do that

Merry Christmas everyone. Cherish family always.
