I found it disheartening how evasive she was on GMA. Specific questions were asked such as “how well did he know these friends” and “what makes you think messages were deleted from his phone” and she flat out didn’t answer- just a bunch of filibustering.
I really wish they hadn’t involved Ben Crump.

Yep. Layne Gravois was an outstanding swimmer. LINK

This whole situation is completely insane and not based in reality. It's gone off the rails.
Different circumstances, but very similar mentality to the Karmelo Anthony situation. Trying to find any excuse to pass blame off on someone else. This poor kid almost assuredly just did something stupid and ended up drowning, and attention seekers and grifters are using his clearly accidental death as some sort of rallying cry to fight a battle that doesn't exist.

I fully expect them to twist their "independent" autopsy to make it seem like his friends drowned him by using words like "inconclusive".
Always a shortage of actual crime or drama, so people create it.

Is there any question at this point that this Crump autopsy is going to conclude foul play?
It’s all so sad.

I hope those kids have hired lawyers that have their clerks mining social media and media websites for any mention of them being murderers (or in any way responsible for this kid's death).
There's such a thing as a defendant "class action" and this would be one hell of a good use of one.

No question. And when that doesn't get them anywhere with an actual crime, I'd bet my bottom dollar they will file a wrongful death lawsuit against their son's friends for "leaving him out there".

One of the big things these idiots are hanging onto is that the white friends got lawyers, and deactivated their sm before the body was found, blissfully unaware that THEY are the reason that these kids felt the needs to lawyer up and deactivate their sm. Thousands and thousands of people decided that they were guilty of something before the body was found, creating ridiculous narratives and shaky assumptions at best that spread to thousands of other idiots as fact. I am sure that there was immediate harassment and death threats made to them BEFORE the body was found. They'd be idiots not to cover their asses in that situation. These imbeciles have no critical thinking, and are fueled by pure, dumb emotion.

Televise that whole trial and show the whole world the charlatans then. I would donate to a defense fund 100%.

With all of these ridiculous comments without any knowledge from these people, I am looking forward to hear the Mobile Leprechaun's take next.

So is the below is the only rationale for Crump and ilk stating explicitly that his friends deleted text messages?
Wells' mother, Christine, said her son's phone was with one of his friends who had returned from the island and they went and retrieved it. She believes Snapchat messages were deleted from the phone because there were no photos or videos on the account.
"I know when kids get together for events like that, they's Snapping," Christine Wonsley said. "They are making videos, taking pictures, and I'm just like, 'Where is it?' Because it hadn't been 24 hours when we started looking, which usually, with Snapchat, it goes away once you hit that 24-hour mark."
Her, and Crump's, theory is they went back to the beach to retrieve the phones to coverup whatever she thinks they did. And the way they did this was to delete various texts, messages and things on snapchat, then drive the boat back to turn in the phone??? Wouldn't the most logical way to "hide the evidence" on the phone be to toss it in the water?

I'm trying to catch up and want to make sure I'm not missing anything.....there's been no actual evidence of foul play, correct? The GMA segment and other media attention just based off some crazy arse hypotheticals that people conjured up because it was a black kid with white friends? That's pathetic.

Independent Autopsy will be released today. Let’s see how low Crump wants to go with this.
