Good to know. I don’t hang around as often so I don’t always know who the obvious trolls are. Just the long term ones

It's really surprising to me that people aren't more cautious about drugs like these. Must have not lived through the 80s and 90s.

Nothing “magic” about correcting a disregulation of hormones in the body. Why is this any different than people with thyroid disease? How about those with high blood pressure? Diabetes?

It’s not different. Your way of thinking about it is different.

i was fat and lazy with poor eating habits. I started the shots in october. I am just not hungry anymore, and it is easy to stick to a reasonable low carb/low calorie diet. I have lost 40 lbs since then. From 230 to 190. Feel great.

Your poor eating habits may or may not have been driven by a low level of GLP-1. Typically they are.

Glad you are healthier now and likely added years to your life. And definitely added more quality to your years left! Congrats!

Ozempic and Wegovy are both made by Novo Nordisk.

Wrong

No. You're wrong and he's right. That's exactly where you inject it--in your stomach.

You realize this drug is the same as Ozempic which has been used since 2018 in diabetic patients and this hasn’t been reported as a side effect. I’m not believing a small mouse study from China until we see something from the FDA or EMA in a long term study.

What? If talking OT I’d say this would be the other way around.

I would think the majority of the OT are vaxxed and support giving away our money to Ukraine.

It’s actually better to inject the med in your outer upper thigh. It’s meant to be administered subcutaneously so any spot you would give insulin into is ok. For many giving in another site besides the stomach has helped to prevent a lot of the really bad side effects associated with the med (really bad nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, intense abdominal cramping, constipation, reflux, etc).

I was part of a few Ozempic fb groups when I was taking it and this was the general consensus from others on this med.

Hollywood? shite. You can’t find a pharmacy with it due to about half of Alexandria taking it. Overheard friends of my wife. Seems all of em were on it. Only one rotund one in the bunch.

I’d like to know how people afford it. I have a friend whose doctor tried to get them on it but it was $2,000 a month without insurance and most insurance plans don’t cover it.

If you can afford $1000/month and aren’t on death’s doorstep bc of your morbid obesity, you can afford a trainer and someone prepping your meals. Would be money better spent for the long term.

That’s what my friends using it for vanity weight loss are paying.

Agreed. It’s insane to pay a damn house note for this. If it were reasonable, and I mean $200 a month or something, ok, you do you and I’m not going to judge. But over 1k a month? frick that.

Yeah when my insurance was covering the med it only cost me $25 a month.

That fb group has women getting the med while on Mexico trips or from Canadian mail order pharmacies (it’s like $250-300 a month that way).

I take trulicity which is similar it’s about $1k/mo if you don’t have insurance, $25 with it.

If anything diabetes drugs in general (metformin especially) are more likely to have the opposite effect. Think dumb & dumber toilet scene.

I was lucky…I just occasionally got nauseous and had some reflux from ozempic. And that went away after the first month on it. I did my shot at night so I think that helped. I also had crazy dreams (which is also a common side effect people mentioned)

Others in the fb group talked about how certain foods now made them violently ill on it. Also many couldn’t drink on it or it made them sick.

False. As LSUNurse said, upper thigh. Anyone can inject anything anywhere, but the proper location is unequivocally upper thigh.
