So would any 2.

I'm not siding with the protesters by any means but the excuse given, or rather the method for deflating tires seems flawed.

You are correct because if they WERE, the lifeless bodies of these rioting idiots would be stacked like cord wood.

Pretty sure that was NG. And these rioters and looters aren’t peaceful and should be treated as dangerous.

Much better to pop some tires to deny movement than to bust heads.

Look, I’m not super gung ho either way, I just like looking at it from a tactics standpoint

I watched a police chase a few days ago where the car topped 100mph with two blown front tires and one of them was on the rim. 4 flats will always be better than 2, if you are trying to disable a vehicle.

Even if the purpose was to prevent rioters from driving erratically through high protest areas, why slash all four tires. Wouldn’t 1 or 2 render the car disabled.

There is no logic behind it I'm sure. It just looks like they being assholes. The cars are unoccupied. Besides, you could still hotwire the car and drive it for long enough to run over people with four flats. Slicing the tires doesn't do shite except prevent it from going anywhere far away. It's difficult for many on the OT to admit it, but it's perfectly reasonable to say that looting & rioting is very fricking wrong while acknowledging the police are going too far with some shite. Slicing tires, drive-by pepper spraying, arresting people for calling them bad names, etc.

From a tactics standpoint, all the cops (or NG) accomplished was to keep people from going home. Popping tires of someone that is an active threat... makes perfect sense. Popping the tires of the press vehicles in the parking will only keep the press from leaving the area.

Why not just boot them? I’m just wondering, not saying they should or anything.

So they only slashed tires of looters and rioters, correct?
Yes, that is exactly correct.

They literally stole millions of dollars worth of shite and burned down half the fricking city, causing 10s or 100s of millions of dollars worth of damage that will take years to repair, and these shitheads are going to whine and cry over a few thousand dollars worth of tires?
Yeah, frick right off with that.

They were popping tires of vehicles with what amounts to contraband in them that they could see through the windows. It allows them to see who is driving the cars when they come back, record names and send the information up the food chain.

I think you are right about the overall intent being to be just like a boot but maybe there just aren't enough boots for where they were or maybe the parking lot was too dense to get between cars and put a boot on?

You also make it cost prohibitive for them to egress, resupply, relocate, come back the next night, etc.

It’s a solid tactic like having their vehicles towed. Reduce their mobility.

Whether you agree with the protesters or not, it's objectively clear that this is a corrupt police department. Isn't this like the 3rd major incident in the past couple of years? Defunding the police is a stupid policy position but this department needs to be cleaned up.
