Mindy Kaling celebrates her 40th bday by donating $1,000 to 40 different charities

To kick things off, Kaling donated $1000 to refugee and immigrant services nonprofit RAICES Texas. Fans have taken to Kaling’s social media accounts to offer suggestions of where the rest of her funds could go.
Wish more celebs would do stuff like this and use their platform, resources, clout, etc. to help make a difference in lieu of “peaceful protests.”

Who gives a shite if she let's people know she's doing it? That's often how you get other people to do the same thing.

Mindy Kaling has never been to a border town and will likely never visit a border town.

If by posting it, it makes another person or celebrity do something similar, and starts a domino effect, then by all means post away. There are far many who are posting that no charity will get any benefit or will spark anything positive. Who cares, good for her.

Reminds me of the episode of Curb Your Enthusiam when Larry and Ted Danson both anonomously donated large amounts to the Art Center (I think) and Ted let everyone know it was him and it pissed Larry off.
Everyone was thanking Ted for his donation and Larry got no recognition.
