Millennials singlehandedly destroyed the great American pastime of Cruising

If anyone needs proof of just how lame the Millennial generation is, look no further than their destruction of the great American tradition of Cruising. Cruising went from American pastime to extinct within one generation thanks to Millennials.
I remember cruising throughout the late 80s and early 90s. Even in college we would go cruising for a specific "skunky" purpose.
Cruising equaled freedom, gifted to us from our parents and grandparents.
For people who grew up in small rural towns like myself, cruising usually would occur on a small "Main Street" with cars blaring loud music (my generation it was grunge, metal, and gangsta rap), cars full of dudes meeting up with cars full of girls, and everyone would convene at a gas station like Casey's or a restaurant like Hardee's or Pizza Hut showing off their cars, stereo systems, or themselves to the opposite sex.
After the Friday night football or basketball game, kids would meet on "the strip" to determine where the country bonfire party would take place. Out of town kids who came to the football game to watch their team would also attend the parties looking for new tail to hopefully hook up with which later in the evening would likely result in a fight between locals and out of towners.
Cruising was life!
What do Millennials do now? I know they aren't cruising because the small town "cruising strips" are all dead. I assume they're texting, twiddling their thumbs on social media, or consumed in a video game too busy to go out and get laid.
Before they respond with "we're the future leaders of the world" nonsense, well that's a given for any generation. Not sure why Millennials use that line all the time. "
"We're changing the world." Okay...how? By making it less fun and destroying great American pastimes?
You are changing the world. I fear for America's future.

Like, for gays?
And it's impossible to look like a badass putting down the street in a Nissan Leaf

It was called bustin loops in Rayvegas. The Sonic was the center point with The Derrick on the north end. Once we got into out late 16's early 17's we could drink beer in The Derrick. So we did. And then busted loops. And it was alright.

Kind of hard to do cruise around when there was a recession going on and gas was $4 a gallon.

That and all the parents lost their retirement so little tom and bob can't borrow money or even find a job because now their parents have to work multiple dead end jobs

It was dead long before Millennials came of age. Mid 80's, early 90's.
It was a great American tradition though

LSUballs,
We called ours "hittin' the strip". The strip was anchored by a gas station on one end, a four way stop (blinking red light) in the middle with a Casey's general store on the corner, and another gas station on the opposite end.
In a town of only 3,000 there would be a couple hundred cars and trucks on "the strip" on Friday and Saturday nights, more if it was after a football game. Hell, after football games parents would cruise for 30 or 40 minutes to relive their youth.
It was a great time to be a kid.
That American pastime has gone the way of the dinosaurs.

I thought cruising was just a 50s fad. Never heard of anyone doing that in my lifetime.

They don't do that anymore because they would get a dui and possession charge

Nah, it was big in the 70's and early 80's. Generally there were hangouts where people gathered, and you'd spend nights driving between them listening to music, drinking/smoking, etc. Rural and urban hangouts. Dazed and Confused has a bit of 70's cruising in it.
